The Chef de Cuisine is responsible for overseeing the culinary operations of the kitchen, including menu development, food preparation, and staff management. This role requires a high level of culinary expertise, creativity, and leadership skills to ensure the highest quality of food and service.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Menu Development**:

- Design and create innovative and seasonal menus that reflect the restaurant’s concept and meet guest expectations.
- Regularly update and refresh the menu to keep offerings current and appealing.
- Collaborate with the management team to develop special event and promotional menus.
- **Food Preparation and Quality Control**:

- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
- Ensure all dishes are prepared and presented according to established standards and specifications.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation.
- **Staff Management**:

- Recruit, train, and supervise kitchen staff, including line cooks, sous chefs, and other kitchen personnel.
- Schedule staff shifts and manage labor costs effectively.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members.
- **Inventory and Ordering**:

- Manage inventory levels of food and kitchen supplies, ensuring efficient use and minimizing waste.
- Order and source high-quality ingredients and supplies from reputable vendors.
- Monitor and control food costs to ensure profitability and budget adherence.
- **Health and Safety Compliance**:

- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety standards and workplace safety protocols.
- Ensure compliance with local and national health department regulations.
- **Guest Relations**:

- Interact with guests as needed to receive feedback and address any concerns or special requests.
- Ensure that guest satisfaction is consistently high through exceptional food quality and service.
- **Collaboration and Innovation**:

- Work closely with other departments, such as front-of-house and management, to ensure smooth operations and excellent guest experiences.
- Stay current with culinary trends and techniques to bring innovation to the menu and kitchen practices.

**Qualifications**:

- **Experience**:

- Proven experience as a Chef de Cuisine or in a similar leadership role within a high-volume, fine-dining restaurant.
- Extensive experience in kitchen management, menu planning, and food preparation.
- **Skills**:

- Strong culinary skills with a deep understanding of various cuisines and cooking techniques.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- **Education**:

- Culinary degree or equivalent professional certification is preferred.
- Extensive on-the-job experience and training may substitute for formal education.
