Student Events Coordinator

**Position purpose**:
The post holder will lead, plan and organise student social events, with responsibility for running a range of events, ensuring that our students are fully aware and engaged and the theme / message of the event is marketed properly.
The post holder will also be supporting both internal and external student, staff and stakeholder events, working closely with our Marketing, Public Relations leads and our University partners on institutional conferences, seminars and exhibitions, as well as celebratory events and corporate hospitality.
The post holder will directly manage our student events activity, from the planning stage, right through to running the event and carrying out the post-event evaluation. The role is primarily hands-on and will often involve working as part of a wider team.
**Key activities**
- Develops, delivers and promotes innovative, student focused activities and events.
- In collaboration with the College’s heads of department, students and the University’s Student Union appointed representative/s, ensure the implementation of well managed and student focused activities and events commensurate with the environment and regional expectations.
- liaise with our student representatives and the wider student body to identify their preferred student event requirements.
- Produce detailed proposals for events (including timelines, venues, suppliers, contractual obligations, staffing and budgets).
- Research suitable venues, suppliers and contractors and negotiate terms and financial arrangements.
- Manage and coordinate suppliers and all event logistics (for example, venue, catering and if required, travel arrangements)
- Liaise with AFG and our university partner marketing teams to publicise and promote events.
- If required, manage a team of staff and or Student Representatives / Ambassadors, giving full briefing and support.
- Organise set up, security, first aid support, hospitality and in conjunction with our Head of Marketing and our Public Relations lead, the media.
- Ensure that insurance, legal, health and safety obligations are followed at all times.
- Produce post-event evaluation to inform future events.
- Working closely with our head of student services, provide a leading role in developing, implementing and reviewing student events.
- Work closely with our departmental leads to ensure that, staff are made aware of event planning and support requirements.
