Nmr Research Associate

**Position Description**:
**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for operating, and maintenance of NMR instrument, recording and -interpretation of all NMR spectra requested by the various QU users.
- Responsible for small molecule and bio macromolecules structure elucidation using NMR spectroscopy.
- Development of standard operating procedures and policies in NMR facility.
- Training and certify users on the proper and safe use of the NMR instrument.
- Providing researchers with state-of-the-art NMR instrumentation and technical support in NMR experimental design.
- The NMR facility specialist will participate in the preparation and writing of instrumentation grant proposals as well as engage in collaborative research with faculty and outside users.
- Develop instrument scheduling, use policies and charge rates in collaboration with the Director of Central Laboratories Unit (CLU).
- Help users achieve independence on the instrument and assist users in assessing their experimental and instrumental needs.
- Acting as a resource by fielding questions and offering expert guidance in available NMR spectroscopic methods.
- Assist faculty, outside users and corporate clients with NMR experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis of experimental results.
- Coordinates with Quality Assurance staff to ensure the implementation of corrective actions.
- Ensure that instruments are maintained to the highest working standards, including regular hardware/software maintenance.
- Determine cryogen fill schedule; order cryogens; oversee and/or perform cryogen fill.
- Oversee the installation of new hardware and software; negotiate and supervise any service contracts with vendors.
- Order parts and/or services as required.
- Develop independent research programs as appropriate to CLU and Qatar University goals and/or engage in collaborative research with members of the CLU when appropriate.
- Publishing original work in peer reviewed journals and/or attend scholarly conferences and giving talks and presentations about the NMR facility and research activities.
- Participating in the writing and preparation of NMR instrumentation grants within guidelines determined by the CLU director; and perform other duties as assigned.
- Willing to develop appropriate NMR methods identified projects.
- To work in open access instruments to support users and deliver result in a timely manner.
- To support the projects from start to completion.
- Assists in the development and implementation of safety projects
- Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications - Ph.D. in organic chemistry, biochemistry or related disciplines from an accredited and a well-recognized university.
- Experience in establishing a high quality NMR sample preparation facility is highly preferred.
- Experience in skillfully operating and managing the NMR 600MHz facility and overseeing instrument usage and maintenance is highly preferred.
- Experience in both software and hardware aspects with different types of NMR instrument are preferred.
- At least 5 years track record along with five SCI/SCI-E publications in last 5 years. Required Documents **Academic**:
