**Position Summary**:

- The position is responsible for conducting moderate to complex financial analyses, analyzing budgeting information, developing financial modelling tools and systems, and executing periodic financial reconciliations.**Responsibilities**:

- Conducts various independent complex analyses and research required to prepare the annual operating and/or capital budgets.
- Provides periodic status on utilization trends and reconciliation statements. Investigates issues and corrects discrepancies. Escalates issues as needed.
- Implements the budgeting plan coordinating budget preparation, challenging submissions and seeking synergies upon consolidation.
- Generates and finalizes reports, conducts variance analysis for operating and capital budgets which may include financial charts, cash flow statement and budget vs. actual variance analysis, performance vs. prior year performance and other trend analysis.
- Tracks, measures, and updates the financial KPIs. Recommends action plans for identified areas of improvement.
- Prepares data validation reports for SAP grants master data.
- Coordinates and effectively communicates with Grants Administration
- Qatar as well as NY & Ithaca on all financial and process issues.
- Executes intercompany transactions by initiating JV E forms and communicating with the NY office as required.
- Ensures adherence to all financial policies and procedures, US generally accepted accounting principles, and WCM-Q and WCM accounting practices and reporting requirements.
- Performs in-depth grant year-end reconciliation analysis for the grant year-end audit and ensures compliance with the sponsor’s regulations.
- Prepares monthly reconciliations; investigates and reconciles variances; records transactions and maintains reconciliation reports for Qatar funds and grants.
- Develops business unit reporting system for management, project or performance reporting and implements to deliver management information according to the reporting cycle.
- Reviews and approves appropriate treatment for accounting/finance issues associated with unusual or complex transactions.
- Applies internal control over financial transactions, and exercises thorough reconciliation efforts to project financial risks. Ensures proper narratives are maintained with respect to business and financial processes.
- Understands and applies advanced accounting and finance knowledge; advises budget owners and financial managers and makes recommendations on complex issues.
- Manages the month and end of year tasks in terms of closing entries in the financial accounting system and ensures the appropriate analysis and documentation are in place.
- Facilitates approval of expenditures including salary and wages, procurement requisitions check requisitions, etc. via financial systems and internal databases through a check and balance mechanism.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**Education**:

- Bachelor's Degree in related field

**Experience**:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Administration with 7 years of related experience.- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial forecasting, modelling and planning.- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CIMA, CPA or similar is preferred.- Prior experience in research, medical or educational field is highly desirable.**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Thorough knowledge of US general accounting principles (GAAP).
- Thorough knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting methodologies like DCF and VAR, economic theory, and statistics to support financial decision-making.
- Advanced MS Excel skills with an ability to manage financial data, create financial models, what-if-analysis etc. on spreadsheets.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate with the stakeholders on financial matters.
- Demonstrated experience in working in a multi-cultural background.
- Well versed with the MS Office Suite of products with exposure to SAP or similar ERPs.
- Thorough attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced result-oriented environment.
