Key Accountabilities:
- Work with Deputy Director - L&O to identify and establish medium to short term priorities and targets for programmes and projects, in line with the QM’s policies and guidelines and ensures their successful execution.
- Manage the relationships with key community partners and stakeholders.
- Develop strategies for community engagement to meet the needs of existing audiences, while simultaneously expanding the museum’s reach to new and more diverse audiences.
- Manage implementation of project activities with local partners.
- Manage delivery staff for programmes and projects including QCM staff and volunteers.
- Represent public engagement needs in QCM meetings and planning processes as requested.
- Inputs into operational strategy and procedures
- Inputs into on-gallery programming strategy and planning in pre-opening phase
- Inputs into facilitation recruitment and training in pre-opening phase
- Manage and assists in selected special projects and performs other related duties, as assigned.
- Full participation in QCM managerial processes, including all professional development training; budget writing, tracking and planning; staff mentoring, review and appraisal process; applicant CV review and interviews; planning of staff training and conference attendance; and other processes as designated.
- Collaborate on strategic planning and plans leading up to and beyond the opening of the new Museum
- Manage and mentors staff in the areas of community outreach, engagement, programme development and delivery. Provide yearly staff evaluations, recommend and organize training and placements for direct reports, ensure their participation in QCM staff professional development, and attend and contribute to relevant conferences and symposia
- Participate in the preparation of post-opening annual departmental budgets
- Participate in QCM budget process and manage budget under the positions direct control
- Participate in all professional development training set by QCM Director; actively seek out additional training, conferences, etc., that are directly relevant to work area; actively review all other training opportunities offered.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Museum Studies, Education, Art History, Archaeology or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in working in a museum or centre aimed at families and/or children
- Experience managing and supervising a team and departmental budgets
- Self-motivated, excellent timekeeping, teamwork experience, problem solving skills.
- Excellent time management, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in teams as well as independently
- Knowledge of education and museums
- Knowledge of community development, education sector, youth development, volunteer management.
- Bi-lingual (Arabic-English) with a wide range of written and verbal communication skills
