**Senior Tunneling Expert**

Doha, Qatar

Parsons is now looking to hire an experienced Senior Tunneling Engineer with a desire to work on a metro project that will change the fabric of our community. Parsons extensive experience in this field, combined with your engineering knowledge, will propel your career forward with the opportunity for further advancement.

The Senior Tunneling Expert shall ensure that all tunnel designs submitted by the Contractor, including excavation method and support system are in accordance with the Employer’s Requirements and the best technical practice. The tunnel engineer shall justify the tunnel design in structural and geotechnical respects and coordinate with tunnel engineers of other projects to achieve a common approach for all relevant solutions and issues.

**Responsibilities**:

- Technical review of the Contractor’s design submissions.
- Coordinate with Designers regarding design solutions chosen by the Contractor.
- Provide input from a tunnel engineer’s point of view for the value engineering process.
- Managing the delivery schedule of the D&B Contractors with regards to tunnel design submissions.
- Identifying risks in the Contractor’s tunnel design.
- Identifying interfaces of the D&B designs with regards to the tunnel installation and track works.
- Provide input into future tenders (consultants and contractors).
- Inspect / audit the tunnel designer of the D&B Contractors.
- Review and manage the close out of claims related to damage and settlement of third-party assets, attributed to construction or operation.
- Review and close out repairs to defective works for the Employer’s assets.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (or related field) and 15 years of experience in large-scale projects, including having overall responsibilities for tunnel engineering.
- Knowledge of NATM construction and design.
- Knowledge of latest international codes and standards related to underground structure.
- Knowledge of tunnel engineering work planning and control methods.
- Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.
