Technical Materials Handling Assistant

**About the role**

Responsible for the safe handling and transportation of aircraft spares and materials, tools and equipment and other technical materials with in Technical stores locations, between Technical stores and aircraft maintenance sites, workshops etc. This involves driving company vehicles, operation of handling equipment and careful handling of aircraft parts and associated documentation.

**Accountabilities**

**Operational**
- Ensure aircraft spares and materials, tools and equipment are handled and with care, in accordance with company and manufacturers’ requirements and are delivered to the right location at right time and relevant records are maintained.
- Understand the Dangerous Goods and ESDS handling requirements so as material and personal safety requirements are fulfilled. Ensure parts are protected from the environment and handling damages at all times which may otherwise affect its serviceability. Communicate with supervisors with regard to work in progress and completed ones.
- Ensure paperwork is correct and attached to all aircraft parts at the time of collection and delivery. - Assist in Stores areas in Senior Store Keeper Capacity as operational requirements dictate.
- Ensure the maximum optimization of company vehicles and equipment, considering the extent of work and time required to execute.
- Understand the value of the spares, ensure parts are loaded correctly and safely secured on company vehicles, as well as handled correctly to avoid any damage or malfunction.
- Report any incident occurred during the handling, which would likely to cause damage. Recognize and report suspected damages, improper packaging and wrong labelling.

**Development**
- Take responsibility for own ongoing personal development and growth of expertise.
- Train and develop other employees, for proper succession planning and risk management.
- Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting Qatar Airways or its subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program.
- Other duties and responsibilities as requested by Management.

**Operational Safety**
- Ensure full awareness of work health and safety requirements and expectations in order to minimize health and safety risks for self and colleagues.
- Ensure compliance to all relevant safety, security, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the operation to guarantee employee safety, security, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality service with a responsible environmental attitude
- Take a direct and personal interest in reported injuries, incidents, near misses and hazards to ensure that appropriate reporting, investigation and response is being achieved.

Qualifications

**Qualifications, Experience & Skills**

Essential
- High School Qualification (e.g. O level, Year 10, min compulsory education)
- Qatar Driving License

Preferred
- To have heavy vehicle license and ability to operate Material handling equipment.

**Previous Experience**:
Essential
- Experienced - Minimum 2 years of job-related experience required

**Job Specific Skills**:
Essential
- A good communicator.
- Ability to work long and flexible hours.
- Honest and reliable personality.

Preferred
- Proficient in English reading and writing.
- Familiar with city locations.
- Knowledge of Arabic language will be an added advantage.
- Ability to handle aircraft parts.
- Conversant with airside driving, rules and regulations.
