**Housing Assistant**:
**Overview**:
This position is located in the Coordinator of Afghan Relocation Efforts (CARE) Office, in the U.S. Department of State (DOS) in Doha, Qatar at Camp As Sayliyah (CAS). The incumbent is the coordinator for U.S. Embassy housing. In this role job holder manages the logistics of housing assignments, advises the Interagency Housing Board (IAHB) on regulatory and technical details of assigning housing, liaises with the Department of State Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) on housing matters and waivers, and chairs the Mission’s Make-Ready Meetings that ensure housing preparations are carefully coordinated to coincide with the arrival and departure of Embassy employees. This coordination role requires excellent management skills and constant communication and coordination with several offices within the U.S. Mission as well as with incoming and outgoing embassy staff occupying the residences. Job holder also develops working relationships with landlords and/or their respective agents and management companies in a continuing dialogue to build relationships that ensure a successful housing program.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- Maintains and updates a database of vacant homes to match incoming arrivals using the set of criteria established in 15 FAM Overseas Building Operations.
- Gathers information from a variety of sources on new arrivals in order to assign appropriate housing.
- Builds relationships with landlords and/or their respective agents as well as with management companies of building complexes.
- Assesses cost-effectiveness of homes when reviewing for renewals or new additions and makes recommendations to the GSO and the IAHB.
- Coordinates meeting times, sets agendas, attends, and oversees the recording of minutes of IAHB meetings. Liaises with Housing Board Members and assists in housing assignment information dissemination.
- Reviews and applies the 15 FAM Overseas Building Operations to make recommendations to the General Services Officer and the Interagency Housing Board regarding the assignment of housing to newly arriving American staff.
- Performs technical evaluations to determine appropriate housing assignments for recommendation to IAHB.
- Maintains and updates a database of vacant homes to match incoming arrivals using the set of criteria established in 15 FAM.

**Education and/or Experience**:

- A bachelor’s degree in business management is required.
- Three years of experience in a customer service atmosphere that includes managing logistics in a real estate, marketing, sales, or a customer-oriented business is required.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:

- Working knowledge of government preferred.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to positively influence staff and client are required.
- Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
- Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
- Must have excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Oral and written communication skills; analytical thinking skills.
