**Travel Manager**:
**Overview**:
This position is located in the Coordinator of Afghan Relocation Efforts (CARE) Office, in the U.S. Department of State (DOS) in Doha, Qatar at Camp As Sayliyah (CAS). The incumbent serves as a Travel Manager for the Travel Section, providing travel services for Embassy Doha, the Afghan Affairs Unit and Camp As Sayliyah (CAS). The Incumbent is a post travel cardholder and program coordinator.
- This position is contingent upon award of contract.
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Preparation of travel authorizations of Post personnel. Ensures the correct preparation of travel authorizations of Post personnel by Travel section. Assists travel clerks in making travel arrangements, procuring visas and reservations for temporary lodging for personnel assigned to post. Is responsible for section completion of eCC draft response completion, TA drafting, and travel calendar updates within deadlines.
- Post's travel cardholders: Is one of post's travel cardholders with responsibility for the procurement of airline tickets. Ensures proper maintenance of travel financial records and funding sources for all travel, including TDY visitors. Ensures the USG agencies receive the appropriate invoices from vendors to make sure all invoices are processed for payment by deadlines.
- Serves as the liaison with the post's in-house travel agency. Advises post personnel on their entitlements on a wide variety of travel situations, including home leave, R&R, medical evacuation, invitational travel, and emergency leave. Also advises personnel of the law, regulations and Mission policies governing all forms of official travel.
- Monitors and conduct surveys of the commercial travel agencies and hotel activities to ensure that they provide the best rates, and that tickets, itineraries and calculation of excess charges conform to USG regulations on cost constructive routing and fares.
- Creates and maintains close contacts among hotel managers, travel agencies and airlines, port and airport officials, and others as relevant to the travel section. Seeks new contacts where appropriate and investigates new travel options.
- Is responsible for the accurate, complete, and orderly maintenance of Travel section files, calendars, and other administrative aspects of the Travel Section. Supervises three travel section staff; ensures efficient division of labor, effective cooperation, and successful accomplishment of required duties for each staff member. Engages in periodic and ad hoc counseling and training for staff.
**Education and/or Experience**:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
- Knowledge of a government travel
- Knowledge of reviewing and processing payroll.
- Working knowledge of government contracting.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office suite of products including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to positively influence staff and client are required.
- Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
- Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
