Technician - Substation Automation & Instrumentation

**Qualification & Experience**

F Degree / Diploma in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering from a recognized institution / college / university acceptable to Kahramaa.
- Ability to communicate, read and write in English at Secondary School Level.
- Minimum 02 years for Degree holders and 04 years for Diploma holders in DC system (mainly in Borri, Chloride, AEES, Benning). Should be familiar with different makes & types of Battery

Chargers, DCDB, Batteries, UPS, CO2 Fire Protection system, Eye Wash systems & SERGI Transformer Explosion Prevention systems (routine maintenance, fault finding, trouble shooting, tuning of the parameters etc.)
- Knowledge of Safety Rules and Regulations.
- Ability of identifying the parts and usage of proper tools.

**Major Duties**
- To carry out the DC system maintenance work (Batteries, Battery Chargers, UPS, Eye Wash system & CO2 Fire Protection systems) including Ni-Cd Battery works (Charging, Discharging,

Recharging, Capacity Testing, Dismantling, Cell replacement, Boost charging).
- Corrective maintenance of DC system including trouble shooting/rectification of various defects reported in the transmission substations.
- Routine maintenance of DC systems in primary substations up to 400 kV voltage level keeping records as per KM requirements.
- Pre commissioning works in KM transmission substations and repair of defective electronic equipment's (pertaining to DC systems).
- Assists KM A&I Engineers and KM A&I Supervisor/Technicians.
- Involve in the commissioning of various DC systems/ schemes in KM transmission network.
- Any work related to decommissioning of old substations.
- DC system setting changes / tuning.

TOC/FAC inspection and preparation of defect lists/status updates. Substation inspections and to report any abnormality in DC System equipments.
- Performs other related duties as needed upon request by the immediate supervisor.

**Other Significant Requirements**:

- Good technical knowledge.
- Fluent in English and ability to communicate with superiors.
- Requires extensive traveling between venues/depots during normal and or outside office hours.
- Requires mobile communication while on duty outside the office.
- Requires mobile communication outside normal office hours for emergency purposes.
- Proper efficient technical staff with required Tools, Instruments (as necessary for a Substation Automation & Instrumentation Technician for independent work in KM Stations and as
- approved by KM) for DC system inspection, maintenance etc.
- All the routine works are to be carried out as per KM approved method statements and Test Reports at KM approved schedules.
