About the role

Join us as we embarked in the journey of excellence. We have opportunities for highly skilled and experienced professional within Ground Services Division. We are currently recruiting for Senior Manager Safety position.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the QR Group Ground Safety Management Programme including include strategic design, continued development and implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) within Ground Services. You will introduce safety assurance programs and associated initiatives to support in the continued commitment of building and maintaining a robust safety system to protect Qatar Airways assets, people and customers.

Specific accountabilities include:

- Provides significant contribution in the identification and development of strategic plans to improve safety in Qatar Airways. Strives to place the company and its wholly owned subsidiaries in the forefront of ground safety.
- Leads implementation of the Safety strategy.
- Analyzes and reviews the Safety strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, industry best practice and innovative futures thinking relevant to Safety.
- Ensures that safety of the operations remain the highest priority through the delivery of strategic safety initiatives.
- Initiates surveillance tasks, robust risk management framework and root cause analysis to enhance the structured approach to SMS.
- Ensures clear visibility on operational risk profiles and ‘hot spot’ areas.
- Ensures that QR Group follows IATA manuals in regards to ground safety for cargo and passenger operations.
- Plans and adapts the operational implementation based on the analysis real-time environment for sustainable performance improvement.
- Performs high-level safety investigations where applicable and/or directed by Post Holder Ground Operations based on event severity profile (HUB and network).
- Establishes the Quality, Training, Safety objectives and priorities to align with, and support business objectives.
- Implements the best practice resource management through accurate and detailed forecasting, planning and procedures and controls.
- Oversees the QTR Ground Operations Manual (GOM) and its content and ensure that updates relevant to the ground operations of Qatar Airways are incorporated where applicable.
- Provides support to the Centralized Emergency Response Training (CERT).
- Provides guidance to the airport teams on the outcome of emergency exercises for future learning and development from a safety systems standpoint.
- Monitors all ground safety incident reports to ensure quality is maintained on risk classification and actions to prevent recurrence. Monitor trends of accidents and incidents throughout the company reporting system.
- Establishes the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.

**Qualifications**:
About you
- With Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- With minimum 10 years of job-related experience.
- Previous experience in leading an airline, airport operation or ground handling safety team.
- Comprehensive experience and knowledge of aircraft handling, weight and balance, cargo and airfield operations.
- Excellent communication skills with fluency in the English language.
- Expert knowledge of ground handling operational procedures.
- Strong decision-making skills and collaborative leadership style.
- Experience of leading, managing, inspiring and engaging a large multi-cultural workforce.
- Sound knowledge of safety management systems, report writing, investigation process.
- Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow.
- Strong mentoring and coaching skills.
