Job Title: General Accountant (F&B Industry)

Location: Doha

Reports To: Finance Manager / Chief Accountant

Job Summary:

The General Accountant is responsible for managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role plays a critical part in the financial health of the company by overseeing accounting operations, preparing financial reports, and supporting budgeting and auditing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and invoices.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile bank statements and financial discrepancies.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for the business.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, VAT regulations, and other financial reporting standards.
  • Conduct periodic financial analysis to support business decisions.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by preparing required documentation.
  • Monitor cost control measures and suggest improvements.
  • Process payroll and ensure accuracy in employee compensation and benefits.
  • Handle inventory accounting and track costs related to food and beverage supplies.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls.
  • Stay updated with industry financial trends and regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the F&B industry.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and taxation.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle) and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in inventory management and cost control in F&B.
  • Familiarity with POS systems and restaurant financial operations.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based with occasional site visits to restaurants/kitchens.
  • May require working extra hours during financial closing periods.
