In essence, you will build the team and make these things happen:
- Attracting & Onboarding Talent:
- Feed the imec Talent Acquisition strategy with local insights to ensure a successful campaign attracting international technical talent.
- Execute the local hiring process & lead the recruitment of 30 employees in the first year across Research & development, engineering and support roles.
- Co-ordinate the relocation process for international hires, including support with visa/work permit, housing, and family requirements (e.g. schooling).
- Work with imec HR management to co-design and implement a comprehensive onboarding plan for new hires.
- HR Operations & Entity Setup:
- Support the local management with legal and administrative processes during the establishment of the new entity (e.g., labor registration, social security, tax registration).
- Propose and manage local vendors for visa support, relocation services, payroll processing, and other people-related services.
- Work with imec HR management to co-develop people policies and procedures specific to the Qatar office, leading to a local employee handbook.
- Work with the local management and imec HR management to define adequate reward packages and benefits.

Do you tick most of these boxes?
- Hands-on experience in different roles in HR, including talent acquisition, compensation & benefits and/or international mobility.
- Experience in a start-up or with establishing a new business entity in the Middle East is a strong plus. Bonus points if you did this before in Qatar.
- Knowledge of, and network with, local instances that will regulate imec's activities in Doha such as immigration, visa, social security.
- Excellent cross-cultural awareness and communication skills, with the ability to act as a cultural bridge between a European headquarters and a local Qatari operation. (Arabic proficiency is a strong plus).
- Willingness to learn fast, a can-do mentality and strong problem solving skills. It will be you we depend upon to get us started
