Senior ITS Engineer

EMFI Qatar Group is looking for an Senior ITS Engineer - Telecommunications with the following qualifications:

Qualification:

• Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/ Relevant Subject
• Certification obtained from North America, West Europe, Australia
• Chartered Membership in Engineering or Relevant professional body would be an advantage
• Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certifications or equivalent for Telemetry, Network Hardware and software Certification
• Current/valid Qatar Driving License would be an advantage

Experience:

• Minimum of 15 years' cumulative experience in a relevant field.
• Minimum of 8 years' experience in specialist area including experience in deploying and managing Wide Area Networks and Local Area Networks
• Ability to establish strong working relationships with stakeholders
• Ability to influence and engage stakeholders and staff at all levels within the organization
• Competent in Microsoft Office Packages and Network Management Systems
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English is essential
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is preferred

Role/Duties:

• Monitor and support the Road Management Centre (RMC) systems necessary to ensure secure and reliable 24/7 ITS communications to deliver the performance and availability service levels required for ITS operations
• Review and witness ITS project commissioning to ensure the telecommunications elements fully meet the Ashghal ITS specifications and telecommunications strategy requirements
• Perform required activities associated with projects and existing ITS assets (investigation, analysis and design) to support effective programme delivery and maintaining the integrity of the Ashghal ITS telecommunications network
• Review and analyse the day-to-day management and performance of the ITS telecommunications maintenance & operations contractor to ensure the availability and performance targets for the network are being met and that best practices are being followed
• Monitor the preventive maintenance activities of the ITS telecommunications maintenance & operations contractor to ensure that secondary and contingency measures are available and will work should any equipment fail across the network
• Understand detailed plans, specifications and estimates for roadway Intelligent Traffic System implementation projects and advise on suitability of proposed telecommunications design and configuration
• Prepare and register all relevant documentation and design reports and ensuring that all documentation is accurate and received within the system held by Ashghal.
• Work in collaboration with other disciplines to ensure the integrity of the overall design of projects and ensure as-built drawings and data sheets are accurate and complete.
• Contribute to the resolution of technical issues, such as substandard products, on projects and providing technical guidance to other team members
• Maintain on-going communication with relevant stakeholders and sub-contractors to build relationships and communication networks ensuring quality of service.
• Carry out site visits and survey inspections and supervise Ashghal sub-contractors
• Conduct studies on the requirement of Telecommunication and Network for ITS/ Tunnels.
• Identify key trends and provide suggestions for improving ITS/ Tunnels telecommunications efficiency and performance
• Identify any gaps in Telecommunication and Network ITS assets within the main corridors of Qatar and propose the most cost effective way of filling those gaps
• Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence to provide a solution to engineering problems and lead the telecommunications input in to any troubleshooting triage activities for RMC faults
• Work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff
• Keep up to date with industry best practice and apply best practice to ensure professional development
• Adhere to Health and Safety policy and procedures and comply with new work instructions
• Perform other duties / tasks as required
• Provide input into the reviewing and updating of the I&EMP as appropriate.
• Ensure adherence to Health and Safety Policy and Procedures and comply with any new work instructions
