Job Purpose Summary:

The IT Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining, managing, and optimizing the organization's IT infrastructure to ensure maximum availability, performance, and security. The role involves system administration, infrastructure automation, archival management, and incident handling across multiple platforms. The incumbent will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with IT policies, maintaining documentation, and supporting digital transformation through DevOps and virtualization technologies.

Key Accountabilities:

  • System Administration & Maintenance:
  • Manage, configure, and maintain Windows, Linux, and virtualization environments (VMware, OpenShift, Hyper-V).
  • Archival Solutions:
  • Implement and manage archival and backup systems to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Infrastructure Automation & Management:
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts (YAML, PowerShell, Python, Ruby) to streamline IT operations and deployments.
  • Asset Management:
  • Maintain and update the IT asset inventory including servers, storage, and licenses.
  • Monitoring & Incident Management:
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolution to minimize downtime.
  • System Documentation & Reporting:
  • Prepare and maintain detailed system configuration documents, reports, and operational procedures.
  • Cloud & Virtualization Management:
  • Oversee cloud services (Azure, GCP, AWS), including billing, costing reports, and resource optimization.

Educational Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in
    Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
    from a recognized university.
  • Minimum
    8+ years of hands-on experience
    in IT systems engineering and IT operations.
  • Proven experience in
    Windows Server, Linux Administration, and Virtualization Technologies
    (VMware, OpenShift, Hyper-V).
  • Experience with
    DevOps practices
    and infrastructure automation.
  • Strong understanding of
    storage platforms
    (EMC, HP Alterra, Cloud Storage).
  • Familiarity with
    Azure billing and cost management
    , and working knowledge of
    GCP & AWS environments
    .

Certifications (Preferred):

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (
    MCSE
    )
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • DevOps Certification
    (AWS, Azure, or equivalent)

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of system administration and virtualization platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages: YAML, PowerShell, Python, Ruby.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and incident management systems.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and documentation abilities.
  • Proactive and detail-oriented approach to infrastructure management.
