JOB DESCRIPTION:

Job Title: Electrical Technician

KEY RESULT AREAS – PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Receives and reviews incoming work requests for repairs to carry out and control the installation, maintenance, repair and testing of a wide range of Low voltage, Medium voltage & High Voltage Electrical equipments, street & domestic lighting in a safe manner, in accordance with client procedures and accepted technical standards.
• Executes the work requests and allocates work to subordinates and contractors. Ensures that all the completed work, conforms to established work standards and statutory requirements.
• Assists & Participates in the commissioning of new projects / equipment's. Reviews, snags completed projects and assists in the generation of all relevant work reports.
• Personally carries out the installation, repairs, maintenance & testing of a wide range of HV & LV Switchgear Panel, Transformers, Earthing System, MCCs, PCCs, HT & LT Motors, various types of Motor starter panels ( VFD , Soft Starters , Star – Delta & DOL) of various equipment's, Emergency DG set, Alternator, UPS, Lighting Control System, Central Battery System, Building internal / external lighting & Street Lighting, Solar PV system, etc.
• Personally, carries out tests like Megger tests, HV test, Contact resistance measurement, and breaker tests, Winding resistance measurement, thermography of all HV & LV electrical equipment's.  Assists in & personally carries out installations & checks on earth pit installations & earthing routes in client premises.
• Assists in & personally carries out the cable tray installations, cabling glanding work, HV continuity and HV tests on cables and associated equipment's
• Assists in & personally carries out installation & maintenance & commissioning of LV, MV & HV transformers and starter panels.
• Must be aware about local regulations / standards for electrical equipment installation / commissioning.
• Carry out the preventive, corrective maintenance, troubleshooting.
• Inspects the work and resolves problems during work in safe practices and guidelines.
• Assists in the maintenance of records and files of work performed, in progress, and work completed. Assists in the completion of time sheets, material costs, repairs and activity reports.
• Assists in the preparation of annual lists of spare parts, consumable materials and special tools or test equipment. Reviews consumption discusses interchangeability with his supervisor.
• Assists in the receipt of the new material and spare parts through on-site inspection of delivered material.  Follows work procedure like 'Permit to work', providing authorized 'safety over-rides', ensures that good housekeeping is practiced at all times.
• Gives input in the preparation of work reports – Daily reports, Equipment failure reports, Incident/Accident reports. Indicates activities carried out, assists in indicating failures and makes recommendations to alleviate recurring problems.
• Assists in the development of 'Plant changes' for modification or improvements in the present systems. Supervises any in-house project work done by technicians/contractors. Assists in the testing and commissioning of new or modified systems, updates 'on-site' information and drawings'.
• Ensures that all the contractors are aware of safe working practices and takes necessary precautions in hazardous work environment.
• Assists in filling the requirements of the CAFM system, and ISO 9000 series quality management systems.
• Assists in developing and implementing 'Operational/Functional' and preventive maintenance programs and procedures to ensure operational efficiency.

PROBLEM SOLVING and COMPLEXITY:

Deals with a wide range of complex LV, MV & HV Electrical equipments, VFD and MV starter panels, generators & critical appliance like UPS etc. Take decisions for maintaining the maximum electrical demand load & the power factor with in specified limits by KARAHMA, ASHGHAL and QCD.
