Job Title: AssistantDriller – Offshore Jackup Rig Location: Qatar (Offshore) Rotation: 28/28 or 42/21 Reporting To: Driller / Senior Toolpusher Direct Reports: Floormen, RoustaboutsJob PurposeThe Assistant Driller (AD) supportsthe Driller in the safe and efficient operation of drilling activities on anoffshore jackup rig. This role ensures adherence to QatarEnergy, Shell,and ADNOC standards while supervising the drill floor crew duringroutine and emergency operations.Key Responsibilities1. Drilling Operations Support·       Assist the Driller in operating topdrive, drawworks, and mud pumps during drilling, tripping, and casingruns.·       Monitor well parameters (ROP,SPP, torque) and report anomalies.·       Conduct pipe handling, slips, and tongoperations under the Driller's supervision.2. Safety & Compliance·       Enforce QHSE policies (QatarMME, OPITO, IADC).·       Participate in pre -tour safetymeetings and emergency drills (well control, fire, abandon ship).·       Inspect BOP, choke manifold, andsafety equipment (pre -shift checks).3. Crew Supervision·       Direct Floormen and Roustabouts indrill floor operations (e.g., making connections, handling tubulars).·       Train junior crew on rig -specificprocedures (e.g., pipe tallying, stump height checks).·       Maintain rig floor cleanliness andorganization (5S standards).4. Equipment & Maintenance·       Assist in preventive maintenance (lubrication,inspections of drawworks, elevators).·       Report equipment malfunctions tothe Driller/Maintenance team.5. Reporting·       Document daily drilling progress (footagedrilled, mud volumes, downtime).·       Complete checklists (BOPtests, tubular inspections). RequirementsQualifications & Experience·       Education: High school diploma (minimum); technical certification indrilling preferred.·       Certifications:o   IWCF Well Control Level 3 (required).o   OPITO/BOSIET + HUET (mandatory for Qatar offshore).o   H2S Awareness & Confined Space Entry.·       Experience:o   5+ years on offshore rigs (3+ years as AD or Senior Floorman).o   Jackup rig experience (preferred: GDI, Shelf Drilling, ADESrigs in Qatar).o   Familiarity with QatarEnergy wellcontrol protocols.Technical Skills·       Proficient in drilling calculations (mudweight adjustments, pipe displacement).·       Basic knowledge of Wellsite ReportingSystems (e.g., WellView).·       Ability to interpret driller's consoledata.Behavioral Competencies·       Teamwork: Coordinates seamlessly with Driller and rig crew.·       Alertness: Monitors operations for hazards (e.g., stuck pipe, kicks).·       Initiative: Proactively assists in troubleshooting.
