Location: Offshore Qatar Employer: Drilling Contractor (e.g., Shelf Drilling, Borr Drilling,ADES, Valaris) or Marine Service Provider Rotation: 35 days on / 35 days off (Standard offshorerotation in Qatar)Job Description:The Radio Operator isresponsible for maintaining all radio communications between the offshore rig,supply vessels, helicopters, and onshore support teams, ensuring safe andefficient operations.Key Responsibilities:1. Communication Management· Operate andmonitor VHF, HF, and satellite communication systems for rigoperations.· Relay messagesbetween rig crew, vessels, helicopters, and onshore teams.· Maintain emergencycommunication channels 24/7.2. Safety & Emergency Coordination· Serve as the primarycontact for emergency broadcasts (man overboard, medicalevacuation, etc.).· Coordinate with QatarCoast Guard, supply boats, and helicopters during emergencies.· Conduct dailyradio checks and equipment tests.3. Log keeping & Reporting· Record allincoming/outgoing communications in the radio logbook.· File dailyreports on communication activities.· Ensure compliancewith maritime and aviation radio regulations.4. Equipment Maintenance· Perform basictroubleshooting of radio and communication equipment.· Report faults to electronicstechnicians for repairs. RequirementsExperience:· Minimum 2+years as a Radio Operator (offshore/maritime preferred).· Familiarity with GMDSS(Global Maritime Distress and Safety System).Certifications:· BOSIET/FOETwith HUET (Mandatory foroffshore Qatar).· GMDSSRadio Operator License (Requiredby international maritime law).· H2SAwareness & Basic Firefighting (Often required).Skills:· Fluent in English (Arabicis a plus).· Strong communication,multitasking, and crisis response skills.
