Role Objective:

Responsible for planning, executing, and maintaining all instrumentation and PLC control systems to ensure optimal plant reliability and performance. The role includes preventive and corrective maintenance of instruments, troubleshooting PLCs, implementing automation improvements, and ensuring compliance with quality and safety standards.

Detailed Roles and Responsibilities
Instrumentation Maintenance

·       Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance for field instruments such as pressure, temperature, level, and flow transmitters, analyzers, weigh feeders, and laboratory equipment.

·       Perform instrument calibration, loop checking, and functional testing in coordination with process and electrical teams.

·       Maintain calibration records in compliance with ISO and QA standards.

·       Troubleshoot instrument faults and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.

PLC and Automation Systems

·       Maintain and troubleshoot PLC systems (Siemens, ABB, Schneider, etc.).

·       Modify and update PLC logic, ladder, or function block programming based on process and interlock requirements.

·       Ensure all control system software, PLC programs, and configuration backups are properly maintained and documented.

·       Support HMI/SCADA systems (WinCC, Wonderware, PCS7, etc.) for monitoring and control.

·       Participate in the installation, commissioning, and startup of new instruments, PLC panels, and control systems.

Documentation and Technical Review

·       Review and verify P&IDs, I/O lists, cable schedules, and loop diagrams.

·       Maintain updated as-built drawings, wiring diagrams, and instrument data sheets.

·       Support audits and inspections by providing accurate and complete maintenance documentation.

Process Optimization and Reliability

·       Collaborate with process engineers to optimize plant control loops for accuracy, stability, and energy efficiency.

·       Analyze control system performance and recommend improvements (PID tuning, interlock review, etc.).

·       Implement minor automation upgrades to enhance plant reliability and performance.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance

·       Ensure all instrumentation and control systems comply with functional safety (SIL) and hazardous area requirements.

·       Follow all company HSE rules and LOTO (Lock-Out/Tag-Out) procedures during maintenance activities.

·       Support risk assessments, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective actions for major failures.

·       Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 50001 standards.

Key Skills and Competencies

·       PLC Programming: Siemens S7/PCS7, Schneider, ABB, Rockwell RSLogix

·       SCADA/HMI Systems: WinCC, Wonderware, PCS7

·       Instrumentation: Calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of process instruments

·       Control Systems: PID loop tuning, interlock logic, automation improvements.

·       Software Tools: Step 7, WinCC, RSLogix, AutoCAD Electrical

·       Industrial Communication Protocols: Profibus, Profinet, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, OPC

·       Strong problem-solving, analytical, and teamwork skills.

·       Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Qualifications

·       Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or Electrical Engineering.

·       Experience: 5–10 years in industrial automation or process instrumentation, preferably in cement, oil & gas, chemical, or power plant sectors.

·       Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken).
