Senior Piping Engineer

Job DescriptionJob Overview:The Senior Piping Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the Piping discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the Piping discipline. The Senior Piping Engineer solves complex problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Piping Engineer impacts a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities with the Piping team and other related teams and ensures that they work within the appropriate guidelines and policies.ResponsibilitiesKey Tasks and Responsibilities:Perform conceptual, FEED, or detailed design analysis and develop them as per project Scope of Work, design basis, project documentation, design codes and standards, and McDermott procedures within the planned schedule and budgetDirect Engineering team as a Lead Engineer on small projectsApply skills and knowledge of the business, take a new perspective on existing solutions to address problems and non-standard situations, and report them to the Lead Piping Engineer at an early stagePrepare detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and proceduresManage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own areacommunicate and explain complex issues and work to establish understandingEnsure interfaces and deliverables are identifiedUse best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve products or servicesFocus on health and safety policies and proceduresBecome fully familiar with the project Scope of Work, Specification, Schedule, and all inter-discipline requirements Interface with other departments to obtain input for engineering and design Interface with High-Value Centers (HVECs) ensuring a clear understanding of their Scope of Work Support 3D-Model review at 30%, 60% & 90% progress Identifying changes to scope and promptly raising a notificationAlert the team of any deviation from the Scope of work or a need for a change orderPrepare design philosophies, specifications, pipe supports, standard detail drawings, MTO, and material requisitions by the project scope of work and contractExplain difficult or sensitive information; works to build understandingFully familiar with P&ID, Line List, Equipment List, Layout, Piping Specifications, and design basisWork independently, with minimal guidance when requiredAct as a resource for colleagues with less experience Reports to: Project: Lead Piping Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Engineering Manager (As Lead Piping Engineer) Functional: Department Manager Liaise With: Designers and Engineers, other Engineering disciplines Leads, Construction and fabrication Groups, Project Management Team, Document Control, Project Cost Control and Planning Group, Procurement Group, Subcontractors and Vendors, Clients Supervises: Associate Engineers and EngineersQualificationsEssential Qualifications and Education:Bachelor's Degree or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering 8-15 years of experience in oil and gas with a major contractor or consultants predominantly performing detail designPreferably Registered Professional Engineer or member of a professional engineering societyFlexible for Business Travelling Committed to McDermott valuesDetailed knowledge of Pre-FEED, FEED, and Detailed Design Phases of ProjectsDetailed knowledge and experience of design techniques and application of standards, codes, and guidelines Familiar with all Piping Sub-Disciplines including Design and Modelling, Pipe Stress & Support, Piping Material Engineering, and MTO activities and deliverablesKnowledgeable in project coordination and execution skillsConversant with international codes and standards like ANSI, ASME, API, BS, NFPA, etc. Familiar with SP3D / E3D / Navisworks Familiar with stick-built and modularization approach #LI-JG2About UsOur ingenuity fuels daily life.
