Job Description:

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role in our EPC projects within the oil and gas sector. Working closely with project management teams, the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for ensuring accurate cost estimation, monitoring project expenditures, and managing contractual agreements with vendors and subcontractors. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in mechanical engineering along with extensive experience in quantity surveying within the oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive quantity take-offs and cost estimations for mechanical engineering components within EPC projects.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop budgets and cost control measures, ensuring adherence to project timelines and financial objectives.
  • Evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals, negotiate contracts, and establish agreements in accordance with project requirements and budgetary constraints.
  • Monitor project expenditures, analyze cost variances, and implement corrective actions as necessary to maintain project profitability.
  • Prepare and submit accurate progress reports, cost forecasts, and financial analyses to project stakeholders, highlighting key cost drivers and potential risks.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual agreements, specifications, and industry standards throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior quantity surveyors and project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in quantity surveying and cost management within the oil and gas sector.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 12 to 15 years of experience in quantity surveying and cost management within EPC projects, with a focus on the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale projects, including cost estimation, budget control, and contract negotiation.
  • Strong technical proficiency in mechanical engineering principles and construction methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex technical data and financial information.
  • Proficient in the use of quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and the ability to mentor and develop junior team members.
  • Professional certifications or affiliations related to quantity surveying and cost management (e.g., RICS, AACEI) are preferred.
