SEK International School Qatar is located in the prominent West Bay, Al Farouq Street in Doha, Qatar. We are seeking candidates for 2023-2024 academic year: PYP Counsellor/Learning Support Leader Mission: Identify situations/patterns of achievement and/or behaviour affecting student/school progress and well-being and collaborates with others to develop solutions.
Responsibilities: Works closely with tutors, teachers and students to ensure the following objectives are achieved: Students acquire the attitudes, knowledge, and skills that contribute to effective learning in school and across the life span. Students acquire the knowledge, attitudes, and interpersonal skills to help them understand and respect themselves and others. Provides support to the tutors and teachers in issues related to behaviour management. Provides parents or guardians education, information, and training, to enhance their understanding of their role in the learning experience of the students Analyses school data and identifies trends or systemic barriers that affect the academic, emotional and/or social progress of the students. Supports the Leadership Team to ensure the school provides a safe and positive environment for students to achieve their goals related to academic and personal development. Supports the admissions department in conducting preschool admission assessments and interviews.
Requirements: Teaching qualification adequate for the teaching job. ICT knowledge. Experience relevant to the job. Fluency in English. Arabic and Spanish desirable. Double degrees, master and international experience are valued positively. Previous experience of teaching the IB PYP is preferred, although outstanding candidates without prior IB experience will be considered Previous experience and knowledge in learning support is desired
