JobOverview:

Principal Flow assuranceEngineer has 20 years of experience in the Flow Assurance studiesusing OLGA software. Candidate should have detailed knowledge inperforming flow assurance studies for Oil and Gas intrafield andtrunk lines. Experience in middle east is addedadvantage.

KeyTasks and Responsibilities:

• Become fully familiar withthe project scope of work specifications schedule and allinterdiscipline requirements; including identifying concerns asearly as practicable and taking appropriate initiatives to addressthe issues. Interpret contractual requirements as they relate toengineering execution.
• Identify changes toscope and promptly raise change notifications including providingany necessary supporting documentation and estimates. Providesimilar support for Variation Orders.
• Interface with all disciplines to developclash free designs.
• Interface with otherdepartments to obtain input for Discipline designs and drawings.
• Maintain close coordination with otherengineering disciplines Planning Fabrication Marine and ProjectManagement Team as required.
• Documentsubstantive communications (communications that result insignificant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copiesto Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager.
• Prepare estimates for bid proposals includingtechnical query reviews execution statements and manhour estimatesidentifying software requirements and any other projectspecificrequirements.
• Raise technical queries toobtain missing information clarify work scope and to maintainpreferred McDermott procedures specifications standards practicesand operational requirements.
• Prepare reviewand (as Lead Engineer) approve Discipline engineering design basisphilosophies and technical specifications.
• Participate in finalizing deliverables listsand deliverables ensuring compliance with specifications andfunctional integrity.
• Review project scheduleand fabrication schedule in relation to construction sequencemilestones and engineering scope.
• Attendproject kickoff and review meetings vendor meetings engineeringmeetings and offshore site surveys as required.
• Provide technical direction and review ofDesigners producing products related to Flow Assurance Engineering.
• Prepare review and (as Lead Engineer) approvedesign reports and procedures.
• Assist inproviding necessary design inputs to other disciplines to enablethem in proceeding with their deliverables.
• Assist procurement personnel in procuringDiscipline equipment materials and services; ensuring that workproduced complies with Customer objectives and procedures.Procurement assistance includes preparing reviewing and (as LeadEngineer) approving requisitions evaluating technical quotationsand preparing queries compiling bid tabulations and recommendationspreparing purchase requisitions and coordinating with Procurementto expedite vendor documents as directed by Discipline LeadEngineer.
• Assist in updating weight reportbased on receipt of vendor information.
• Reviewand (as Lead Engineer) approve vendor and subcontractor submittalschecking for compliance with project specifications and providingcomments as necessary.
• Review and (as LeadEngineer) approve design verification through singledisciplinecheck / inter discipline check (IDC).
• Providetechnical support to fabrication queries including identifyingdefect / rectification requirements.
• Keep theDiscipline Manager and Project Management Team apprised of allactivities and concerns technical budgetary and manpower related.
• Assist in providing inputs for actual planningand forecasting progress reports including associated productivity.
• Check final subcontractor and vendor datamanuals to ensure that all requested data has been received andapproved.
• Present issues and problems toCustomers in a timely manner and assist Lead Engineer innegotiating resolution in accordance with project and companyrequirements.
• Perform (as required) TechnicalQuality Audit reviews in accordance with MDR Global Procedures.
• Assist Lead Engineer with responses toCustomer and other agencies (such as certifying authoritiesauditorsthird parties etc.) on their review and approval.
• Capture lessons learned and enter into MDRsLessons Learned system.
• Capture KnowledgeObjects and enter into MDRs K.now system.
• Guide less experienced engineers on MDR andDiscipline procedures standards worksheets design calculationssoftware requisitions technical bid evaluations technical queriesetc.
• Supervise and guide assigned engineersand coordinate with project Lead Designers for Disciplineengineering and design deliverables.
• Responsible for the engineering integrity ofthe assigned work area.
• Monitor costs of ownwork processes.
• Assist in the maintenance ofdepartmental technical guidelines and standard calculation notes.Participate in development and maintenance of Global ProceduresSoftware and Standards.
• May participate instandards development committees or task groups such as API.
• Develop communication and presentation skills(e.g. write technical papers participate in conferences and/orseminars present design solutions and/or present topics at lunchand learns; etc.).
• Identify and providetraining to staff in specific techniques and proprietary software.
• Provide information on employee performance tothe Discipline Manager.
• Assist Disciplinemanager in interviewing job applicants.
• ReviewCustomer and 3rd party reports verify the flow assurance designbasis and provide
• comments to Lead Engineeridentifying any potential issues and options for mitigation orresolution.
• Utilize PVTSim PIPESIM and OLGA toperform flow assurance simulations for different scenariosincluding troubleshooting.
• Analyze the resultsof simulations and present findings in reports.
• Perform review and (as Lead Engineer) approvethe following designs analyses and evaluations:
  • Reservoir fluid characterization analyses
  • Optimization of subsea field layoutarchitecture
  • Steady state thermal andhydraulic analyses
  • Transient thermal andhydraulic analyses
  • Transient liquid line surgeanalyses
  • Transient gas line packing/unpackingand depressurization analyses
  • Liquid systemsurge analyses
• Whenacting as Lead Engineer in addition:
  • Act asprojectbased Discipline point of contact in communications andmeetings with Customer counterparts.
  • Ensuresubstantive communications are documented.
  • Prepare bids and projects Disciplineengineering budget and execution plans updating as required.
  • Identify project staff needs based onknowledge of individual engineers skill sets and provide requeststo the Discipline manager.
  • Plan organize andassign tasks responsibilities and manhour budgets to the disciplineteam and verify tasks are completed within budgets.
  • Plan Discipline Level 4 detail deliverableschedule/ register compliant with the overall execution plan.
  • Prepare working forecasts identifying changemanagement plans corrective action and real time schedule.
  • Provide Discipline inputs for actual planningand forecasting progress reports including associated productivity.
  • Alert project team of any deviation from thescope or a need for change order.
  • Monitor KPImeasurement results and take corrective action as necessary toimprove Discipline performance including performance at interfaceswith others.
  • Coordinate with other DisciplineLead Engineers and Designers to ensure timely receipt of necessarydesign inputs.
  • Review and approve requisitionstechnical quotation evaluations and queries compiled bidtabulations and recommendations and purchase requisitions; andcoordinate with Procurement to expedite vendor documents asrequired.
  • Lead the Discipline team duringproject audits (internal Customer and third party technical audits)and Design Reviews.
  • Review comments fromCustomers & other agencies on documents and drawingsproduced by the team and resolve and give guidance on their updateand incorporation.
  • Assist Discipline managerin the preparation of quarterly forecasts and manpower planning.Anticipate project engineering needs and plan accordingly.
  • Coordinate with vendor for disciplinemanaged/procured items.
  • Assist Disciplinemanager and Project Engineering Manager or Project Manager inPerformance Evaluation of project teammembers.

EssentialQualifications and Education:

• 10 yrs in oil and gas withmajor contractor or consultant predominantly performing detaildesign of offshore facilities
• Bachelor Degreein Chemical Mechanical or Petroleum Engineering (Advanced degree isPreferredMSc or PhD)
• Detailed knowledge ofdesign techniques and analysis methods and detailed knowledge ofthe theory content and application of standards codes andguidelines as applicable for offshore. Knowledgeable in projectcoordination and execution skills.
• Hasdeveloped advanced knowledge of the flow assurance principles toolsand solutions.
• BS Degree holders would havepursued at least some graduate level engineering course work if notworking toward MS Degree or attended advanced technical seminars.
