Our client is a leading Qatari Holding Group with diversified global business interests within the Hospitality, Real Estate, Industrial, Investment Management and Financial Services sectors.

Our client now seeks to recruit a Chief Investment Officer to spearhead the firm's strategic investment portfolio and manage the Group Treasury activities.


Key objectives comprise:

  • Provide strategic direction to the Group in terms of lucrative sectors, markets and geographies that the firm could invest in and ensure timely and relevant reporting.
  • Ensure all investment opportunities are comprehensively evaluated and aligned to the Board of Directors approved investment strategy and objectives.
  • Oversight of the company's core investment business and operational processes and ensure delivery against objectives.
  • Collaborate and complement the CEO's efforts in implementing Boardapproved business strategies and optimize business vision and mission to achieve desired objectives.
  • Maintain control of diverse business operations and assist in the preparation of company budgets and employ strategies to safeguard assets and inventory.

Reporting to the CEO and, a key member of the senior management team, managing 3 direct reports and 3 indirect reports and responsible for the following:

  • Optimize the company's operating capabilities, employ strategies to maximize business value and manage business development initiatives and expansion plans. Enabling efficient and effective governance of risk for business and its segments.
  • Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth and implement companywide goal setting, performance management and annual operating planning.
  • Develop and establish effective and wellorganized investment processes and implement strategic asset allocation decisions.
  • Define the organization's investment strategy, prioritize focus areas, and establish goals for the business and the team.
  • Manage the investment aspects of the organization's potential expansion into new countries, markets and/or investment products.
  • Evaluate and implement technologies that will effectively support and monitor the organization's Investment and Treasury requirements. Advise management on the organization's short
- and long-term liquidity strategy.

  • Assist the CEO and the CFO in identifying and arranging equity and debt capital.
  • Assist in deal origination and provide market insights that will determine where to allocate capital as per the organization's strategic plan.
  • Oversight of the Investment Department's core business operations and continuously develop, enhance, and embed the risk framework for managing risks across the company.
  • Advise on directing capital to projects based on risk with oversight of business development and marketing initiatives as key elements for business expansion and growth.
  • Control core business costs and introduce tactical initiatives to address inefficiencies.
  • Partner with the CEO and CFO to aggressively manage capital investment and expenses to ensure the company achieves investor targets relative to growth and profitability.
  • Participate and recommend expansion activities including investments, acquisitions and corporate alliances.
  • Assist CFO with financial projections and analyses of existing partnerships, investments, and other business activities.
  • Evaluate investment management proposals for investment opportunities (external) and capital expenditure (internal). Research different markets and opportunities and make recommendations to the CEO.
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative research to support the selection of investments with a focus on financial, economic and market viewpoints.
  • Participate in the structuring, negotiation, closing and monitoring of financing facilities and lead the dealrestructuring process for the organization.
  • Manage the inhouse Treasury and monitor activities of third parties handling outsourced Treasury backoffice functions and monitor CapEx investment activities.
  • Forecast and manage cash positions, related borrowing needs and funds for investment.
  • Forecast liquidity requirements, define cash reporting/ forecasting processes and develop bestinclass cash and liquidity management systems and reporting.
  • Ensure all business/investment initiatives align to company values and culture and create an integrated risk framework for the holding company and its subsidiaries including risk assessment, risk limits quantification, risk mitigation plans and monitoring the progress of risk mitigation activities.
  • Develop, manage, and refine qualitative and quantitative risk reporting.
