To safely operate mobile cranes for the purpose of loading and unloading materials, and cargos from/to vessels/yard to ensure efficient, safe, and smooth operations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • To study the crane specifications including the relation between the boom outreach and SWL of the crane to ensure proper use of equipment.
  • Operate the equipment smoothly as per given signals by the signalman in order to load and unload cargos and materials.
  • Maintain continuous operation by using "hot seat" changeover at shift changeover times and for operator rest break changeover.
  • Assure that the mobile cranes are located in designated parking position upon completion of operations.
  • Follow all the safety and traffic control instruction when moving the crane from one place to another to ensure the safety of all port personnel.
  • Assure that there is no obstacle all around the radius area that the crane is working in so that the operation is run smoothly.
  • Maintain the operator's cabin, lifts, and other spaces in a clean and tidy condition always.
  • Carry out all preoperational checks on the Equipment before starting shift to ensure that the crane is operating properly.
  • Recognize technical malfunctions of the mobile crane and report to supervisor with the supposed cause and assist according to ability to solve these malfunction or coordinate repair to equipment to ensure that the crane is operating effectively.

Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Read, write, and speak English
  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating mobile crane in a similar position.
  • Previous port experience is mandatory.

  • Basic computer skills.
  • Good technical and operational knowledge of noncontainer terminal operations.
  • Good decisionmaking skills
  • Proficiency in English (must)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to work in shifts.
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders through collaboration and teamwork.
  • Regulatory and compliance awareness.
  • Outstanding organizing and planning skills.
  • Good understanding of Qatar and GCC culture and working environment.
