The role is based mainly at our Cobham campus(largest of the three campuses and a boarding school), with timespent at Hillingdon and Egham campuses each week, during the hoursof 08:30 - 16:30 and the salary will be dependent on experience andqualifications.

In this role the Educational Psychologist will berequired to commence work a week before the start of the academicyear and typically 2-3 days at the end of the academic year.


PURPOSEOF THE ROLE:


The Educational Psychologist focuses onchildren's learning and development, using psychologicaland educational assessment techniques to help those havingdifficulties in learning, behaviour or social adjustment.

Areas ofexpertise include child development, the psychology of learning andteaching, children and young people's emotional wellbeing,and the psychological aspects of educating children with specialeducational needs including wide ranging neurodiversity,developmental delays, SEMH challenges, ADHD, ASD, dyslexia, andother higher incidence specific learning disabilities in reading,writing and mathematics.

The core area of practice for the role isproviding educational psychological evaluations of ACS students(and applicants) receiving services for moderate special educationneeds.

The role includes a general consultative practice within ACSschools, as well as ongoing support for staff through teacherprofessional education and advice for case management.


KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Advanced degree(Master s or Doctorate) in Educational Psychology, focusing onneurodiversity or related disciplines
  • Valid registrationwith the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as anEducational Psychologist (preferred) or an equivalent internationalqualification
  • Proven track record in conductingpsychological evaluations of children and young adults, workingwith neurodiverse students
  • Exceptional organisationalskills to effectively balance direct student assessments withadministrative responsibilities
  • Strong interpersonal,communication, and report-writing abilities
  • Commitment toworking within Health and Care Professions Councilstandard
  • The ideal applicant should be confident,resilient and adaptable
  • Have good judgement, act withfairness and integrity, comply with regulations and programmerequirements and maintain appropriate confidentiality
  • Able to work in an international environment in ways thatappreciate diversity and manage differences
  • Be able tocommunicate effectively with all stakeholders in a positive andprofessional manner

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Administer and interpret a variety of standardised assessments,including but not limited to the Wechsler Intelligence Scale forChildren (WISC), Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities, andthe Wechsler Individual Achievement Test (WIAT), to assesscognitive abilities, learning profiles, and emotional andbehavioural needs
  • Identify and assess students withneurodiverse conditions, implementing best practices to supportASD, ADHD, dyslexia, and specific learning disabilities in literacyand numeracy
  • Actively engage with parents and educatorsto collect relevant information and secure informed consent beforeevaluations, fostering a collaborative approach to studentsupport
  • Efficiently manage caseload ensuringcomprehensive assessments, timely scoring, and meticulous reportwriting with a commitment to a one to two-week reportturnaround
  • Offer in-depth feedback and actionablerecommendations during meetings with families and educationalteams, facilitating the development of tailored individual learningplans (ILPs)
  • Partner with school staff to devise andimplement effective intervention strategies and deliver trainingsessions to enhance support for students with neurodiverseneeds
  • Establish and uphold a systematic approach tosegregating assessment duties from paperwork management,guaranteeing efficient processing and clear communication ofevaluation outcomes and recommendations (including in ACS StudentInformation Systems)
  • Support with staff training andparent education as required
