Summary:


We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Executive Producer to lead Al Jazeera English's award-winning current affairs programme, People and Power.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identifying stories after discussions with AJ English programmes management as well as originating
- ideas that have the potential to develop into film, television or online projects.
  • Overseeing a team of filmmakers who produce long‐form and short term investigative documentaries.
  • Working closely with the team to develop ideas, create sizzle reels and pitch decks.
  • Helping establish a compelling visual style and narrative voice for each project.
  • Providing feedback and guidance on scripts and drafts.
  • Ensuring strong journalistic ethics and fact‐checking processes throughout production.
  • Collaborating with business team members to acquire production and post‐production financing.
  • Developing new relationships with production partners and securing distribution.
  • Develop new, compelling storytelling techniques.
  • Ensure programmes follow journalistic best practices.
  • Proven editorial judgment and Ofcomrelated experience.
  • Excellent scripting and narrative skills
  • Effective negotiating and management skills
  • Nine years' experience in TV or related fields including at least 5 years directing and producing factual programmes of an appropriate type (documentaries, discussions or magazines)
  • Skilled at leading and motivating teams, encouraging and developing production staff.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills strong enough to establish credibility
  • Ability to inspire creative talent, internally and externally.
  • Deliver against multiple and potentially conflicting goals, with an instinct for anticipating challenges and opportunities Manage the inherent pressures of leading people,
  • Admit quickly when in the wrong, but stand up to huge pressure without bending when it is right so to do
  • Oversee a structure where editorial responsibility is devolved appropriately with clear guidelines on when and how decisions are escalated
  • Demonstrate proven ability to drive results through a team, creating a sense of collective responsibility but allowing individuals to lead and grow in their areas
