Collections Storage Coordinator

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist with the physical receipt of all objects, either: existing collection, loans, or new acquisitions.
  • Work to deadlines and budgets set by the Head of Collection Management & LM Director.
  • Liaise with LM and QM wide Collections Staff and Security Teams, to ensure the safe internal and external transportation and storage of all objects in the care of the LM.
  • Assist the Head of Collection Management, by updating location information within the Emu system, whenever an object is moved.
  • Assist the Head of Collection Management in maintaining an accurate record of all crate stock held by LM.
  • To assist the Head of Collection Management with the biannual Collections Audit, to ensure all locations (permanent and current) are updated on the EMu.
  • Assist with the supervision of all physical access to the collection, to ensure optimum collections care through safe handling and storage.
  • Ensuring good and safe practice regarding object handling and crating. Reporting any concerns or issues directly to the Head of Collection Management.
  • Participate in training both inhouse and external, to broaden knowledge and keep up to date on Preventative Conservation issues.
  • Consider personal Health and Safety, when dealing with large and over large object movement, to minimize risk and injury.
  • To undertake elements of responsibility when the Head of Collection Management is unavailable.
  • Cooperate with the rest of the Collection Management team, as well as Conservation and Curatorial teams for object access.
  • Physical handling of objects as needed, packing objects for storage or transport as needed.
  • Any other tasks as directed by the Head of Collection Management and the LM Director that relevant to the section.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Being a flexible team player, whilst displaying excellent time management, strong organizational and problemsolving skills
  • Creativity, passion, and ambition about the museum collections.
  • Working knowledge of EMu database or ability to learn
  • Demonstrating strength to coordinate and work with teams collaboratively on complex projects
  • The ability to work individually, whilst also demonstrating excellent communication skills is vital.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, Microsoft Office
  • Experience required: 03 years
