Responsibilities:

UDST is looking for a talentedMaterials or Chemical Engineer to join our team. As a MaterialsEngineer you will collaborate with other departments externalsuppliers and customers to assist in the daytoday processing andprototyping of a material; conducting laboratory analysis includingmanaging laboratory equipment and consumables ensuring compliancewith safety and quality standards and collaborating with otherdepartments and externalsuppliers.

Theideal applicant for this role will be able to understand and masterthe art of modifying materials to meet specified standardrequirements and qualities. Also the candidate should becomeproficient in operating laboratory equipment such as ScanningElectron Microscopy (SEM) Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS)Digital Light Microscopy Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC)Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) Liquid Chromatography (LC) GelPermeation Chromatography (GPC/SEC) Fourier Transform InfraredSpectroscopy (FTIR) and other relatedinstruments.


EssentialDuties:

  • Develops new methods and techniques for analyzingsamples
  • Keeps accurate records of experimentalresults and interprets and analyzes data
  • Communicates test results with the reasrch team to ensure qualitysatisfaction
  • Facilitates and promotes the useof appropriate problemsolving techniques for effective root causeanalysis and successful corrective action
  • Manages and maintains laboratory equipment including calibrationrepair and preventative maintenance.
  • Coordinates ordering and inventory management of laboratoryconsumables and reagents.
  • Establishes andmaintains supplier connections including vendor technicalcontacts
  • Serves as the focal point person forthe Boulder site in coordinating and leading the introduction ofnew analytical instruments.
  • Maintains currentknowledge of new analytical techniques andinstrumentation.
  • Adheres to laboratory safetyprotocols
  • Coordinate with technicians andensure calibration of analytical instruments.

Education or FormalTraining:

  • Bachelors Degreein chemical Materials Engineering Analytical Chemistry or relatedtechnical discipline

Experience

  • A minimum of twoyears of handson expertise with a variety of laboratory instrumentsand techniques is required
  • A minimum of twoyears experience in the chemical business ispreferred
  • Experience introducing new goods andtransferring products from R&D to a desiredapplication

WorkingEnvironment

  • Works with various laboratory substances and around analyticalequipment in the laboratory.
  • Able to workindependently.
