Context:_

Under the overall supervision of the Senior Operations Officer and direct supervision of the Programme Officer (Education); the Senior Education Assistant will be responsible and accountable for managing the following functions:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:_

  • Manage and supervise Education Assistants
  • Followup on IOM's work regarding education and advocacy on all issues related to nonformal education activities and strategic directions.
  • Liaising with partners to assess the education context; assist in the development of an implementation plan; monitor and assess impact.
  • Works in collaboration with incountry education partners to improve access to, and quality of nonformal education in the camp.
  • Support the implementation of nonformal education approaches for emerging needs for the guests.
  • Regularly update and share information related to nonformal education. Identify gaps, assess trends, and design interventions.
  • Supports intersectoral linkages with Child Protection, MHPSS, and other related sectors.
  • Review nonformal education proposals and monitor existing agreements with partners to enhance quality.
  • Monitor and support all existing nonformal education activities, including those implemented by partners and communitybased bodies.
  • Assist in the development of tools for service satisfactory assessments/surveys. Monitor ensure data collection and produce reports.
  • Prepares reports, documentation including lessons learned and success stories on nonformal education activities.
  • Provide inputs for funding proposals/submissions, appeals and donors' reports.
  • Perform administrative operational/control tasks in the nonformal education facilities.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications and Experience_

Education

  • University or Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Education, or a related field from accredited academic institution, with four years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with six years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Preferably, previous work experience in IOM, any other UN agency or a reputed international nongovernment organization working on Education, Education in Emergencies, etc.
  • Experience of supervising/leading teams during project implementation.
  • Experience in providing nonformal education activities to children and adults.
  • Strong work ethics and commitment to humanitarian principles.
  • Experience of writing concept notes, documenting success stories, producing periodic reports (statistical and narrative) against programmed deliverables to the management.

Skills

  • Strong organizational, facilitation, communication, writing and presentations skills.
  • Ability to draft clearly and concisely reports.
  • Ability to work under time constraints to meet deadlines in challenging settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills in a multicultural setting. Capacity to work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues from various cultures and professional backgrounds.

Languages
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Basic knowledge of Dari/Farsi/Pashto and Arabic is an advantage.
