Job Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced Field Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water and wastewater treatment processes and will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting treatment systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor control panels and other equipment to regulate the flow and treatment of sewage.
  • Conduct regular inspections of plant equipment and processes to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Record data from meters and gauges and maintain logs of plant operations.
  • Perform routine maintenance on treatment plant equipment, including pumps, motors, and valves.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, performing minor repairs as needed.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff or external contractors for major repairs and servicing.
  • Collect and test water and sewage samples to monitor the effectiveness of the treatment process.
  • Perform chemical and biological tests to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Adjust treatment processes based on laboratory results.
  • Ensure the plant operates within the parameters set by environmental regulations and permits.
  • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies.
  • Stay updated on new regulations and technologies related to sewage treatment.
  • Follow safety procedures and guidelines to protect personal and public health.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Participate in safety training and emergency response drills.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Provide updates on plant operations and issues to the Plant Supervisor/Manager.
  • Train and guide junior operators and new staff members.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in wastewater treatment or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in wastewater treatment or a related field is desirable.
  • Proven experience as a Field Operator in water/wastewater treatment.
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and equipment.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills.
  • Physical ability to perform fieldwork, including lifting, climbing, and working in various weather conditions.
