Restaurant Training Manager

Responsibilities:

Training Program Development:

  • Design and update training materials, including manuals, handbooks, presentations, and videos, to ensure they align with current operational standards and industry best practices.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and new technologies to continuously enhance the effectiveness and relevance of training programs.

Training Delivery:

  • Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions for new hires, as well as ongoing training for existing staff members.
  • Cover a wide range of topics, including customer service, product knowledge, food safety and sanitation, ordertaking, upselling techniques, and teamwork.
  • Utilize various training methodologies, such as roleplaying, simulations, demonstrations, and handson exercises, to facilitate effective learning and skill development.

Training Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of training programs, such as written tests, practical assessments, and observation of performance.
  • Analyze training feedback, performance data, and employee evaluations to identify areas for improvement and recommend adjustments to training programs.
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching to individuals or groups to address skill gaps and ensure continuous improvement.

Training Coordination and Administration:

  • Coordinate training schedules and logistics, including room bookings, equipment setup, and training materials preparation.
  • Maintain accurate and uptodate training records, attendance sheets, and certification documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with the HR department to ensure new hires complete mandatory training and assist in onboarding activities as needed.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Partner with department managers to understand specific training needs and provide ongoing support to address performance gaps.
  • Regularly communicate with management and staff to promote training initiatives, share updates, and gather feedback.
  • Foster a positive learning culture by promoting teamwork, open communication, and professional development opportunities within the restaurant.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Training Manager or similar role within the restaurant industry.
  • Indepth knowledge of restaurant operations, service standards, and industry best practices.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to adapt training methods and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and other training technology tools.
  • Certifications in food safety and sanitation training (e.g., ServSafe) are highly desirable.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
