The opportunity:
We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Deputy Director of Music with the ability to teach and lead across our whole school music department, from Foundation Stage to Key Stage 5.
An ability to lead on music initiatives and activities, as required by the Director of Music, in a confident and robust manner would be highly advantageous.
This role of a Deputy Director of Music is focused on developing effective relationships in order to cultivate a vibrant learning environment, helping to execute the operations of a busy whole-school department whilst motivating colleagues and students to pursue their individual best.
A keen interest in directing and contributing to a vast array of co-curricular musical ensembles on a weekly basis would be a welcome addition.
Experience in music technology would enable a smooth start in our digitally advanced learning environment.Our Music classrooms are equipped with keyboards, Rock-band instruments, iMacs, surround sound, interactive smartboards, grand pianos and synthesisers.
In addition to this we have further practice rooms fully equipped with drum kits, bass and electric guitars plus keyboards.
We have a Mac Suite which runs Sibelius Ultimate and Logic Pro X, samba and jumbie jam kits, a full range of Nuvo wind instruments, guitars and ukuleles, djembes and percussion.
The Music Department runs an incredible array of events throughout the year from National Battle of the Bands in the Secondary School, to Qatar School Choir of the Year - a large choral event for children aged 5 to 18.
We also attend Young Musician of the Gulf annually and this year are due to host the global COBIS Music competition.
This is in addition to a full complement of internal concerts, productions and recitals. We are a busy and thriving team that requires energy, passion and commitment from its members.
All our classrooms are equipped with interactive smartboards and displays, all students are furnished with an iPad upon entry, and all staff and students use Google Classroom.
