The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS)houses nine departments, covering a wide range of undergraduatespecializations in the Arts and Sciences including EnglishLiterature and Linguistics, Arabic Language, Mass Communication,History, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, International Affairs,Policy, Planning and Development, Statistics, Chemistry, BiologicalSciences, and Environmental Sciences.
The College also housesMaster Programs, which are M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, M.A. inGulf Studies, M.A. in Arabic Language and Literature, M.Sc. inMaterials Science and Technology, and M.Sc. in Applied Statistics.In addition to a PhD in Biological and Environmental Sciences and aPhD in Gulf Studies. Additionally, the College offers a Program ofArabic for Non- Native Speakers. Also, there are two establishedresearch centers namely the Center for Sustainable Development andthe Gulf Studies Center.
It is worth mentioning that as members ofQatar University, CAS faculty members have excellent opportunitiesto secure internal and external funding for their research ideas.
Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) is major source of researchfunding, with individual project funding limit reaching $600.000per project (5 million exceptional projects) along with studentresearch funding programs.
As the national and largest Universityin the country, Qatar University is the recipient of most of QNRFawards, with many research- active faculty members able to winmultiple grants.
Duties & Responsibilities The Departmentof English Literature and Linguistics invites applications for aposition of Assistant Professor in Writing.The candidate must havea PhD in a relevant subject area at the time of application, aswell as post-graduate teaching experience.
Additionalqualifications in L2 Writing, Applied Linguistics, or TESOL arewelcome.The candidate will be expected to teach introductory andadvanced composition courses, as well as a broad range ofundergraduate writing courses.
Candidates with strong researchpublications can be considered for the regular track.- Teach courses in the area of expertise
- Contribute tovarious committees at the departmental and college level
