JobSummary andPurpose

As aSubject Matter Expert (SME) the Production Engineer provides thetechnical problemsolving ability for production engineering processand planning. The Production Engineer leads work teams and controlsproduction process for initial blast and painting process to a highquality & auditable standard that is consistent withcontract work scope statutory & code requirementsIntegrated Management System (IMS) procedures design parameterssite survey inputs specifications stress inputs and vendordata.

Accountabilities

Key Accountabilities:
1. Ensure implementationof approved departmental policies processes procedures and provideinstructions to subordinates and monitor their adherence.
2. Lead and control work force engaged in all activities concernedwith the Shipwright aspects of the project to ensure the work iscompleted within the allocated manhour/resources.
3.Attend VSCC onboard production meeting section review meetings andhighlight issues on SHEQs and production if any.
4.Coordinate work progress with project managers superintendent othertrades and with his own department.
5. Liaise withInvoicers / Estimators to ensure that commercial targets aremet.
6. Organise and supervise the activities and work ofa small team of subordinates to ensure that all work within aspecific area of departmental activity is carried out in anefficient and procedurally compliant manner.
7. Preparedepartmental reports on time & accurately to meet company& department requirements policies &standards.
8. Manage subcontractor jobs by coordinatingwith subcontractor supervisors and foreman for lumpsum jobs andlabor supply contractors.
9. Liaise with externalrepresentatives such as owner representatives class surveyor in allthe matters related to product requirements work specificationsdrawings and ensure completion of the task.
10. Initiatesite instructions technical queries work completion certificationsfor all the onboard jobs.
11. Coordinate plans drawingsanswering of enabling notes nonconformance reports.
12.Carryout checking of the subcontractors timesheets invoices oflumpsum jobs and approving their invoices.
13. Check thestatus of material and coordinate for raising the purchaserequests.
14. Comply with all relevant safety quality andenvironmental management policies procedures and controls to ensurea healthy and safe work environment.
15. Perform otherrelated duties or assignments as directed on order to contribute tothe continuous operations of the department.

Qualifications Experience and JobSkillsQualifications:
  • A Diploma ora Degree in Naval Architecture Marine Engineering MechanicalEngineering or its equivalent.
  • Level 1 NationalAssociation of Corrosion Engineers (N.A.C.E)Desirable
Experience:
  • Experiencein ship repairing and ship constructionyard.
  • At least 5 years of experience asSupervisor or in similar position in Marine or New buildingYard.
  • Knowledge of all types of surfacepreparation and coatingsystems
