JobOverview:

The Principal InstallationAnalysis Engineer is responsible for interpreting internal orexternal business issues and recommending best practices. They willbe tasked with solving complex Installation Analysisrelatedproblems and will work independently with minimal guidance. ThePrincipal Installation Analysis Engineer may be responsible forleading functional teams or projects and is regarded as aspecialist in Installation Analysis. As such they must have indepthexpertise in Installation Analysis as well as broad knowledge ofthe Installation Analysis discipline within the Engineeringfunction.

The prospective candidate shall havesignificant experience in pipeline & cable installationengineering. Good working knowledge of Orcaflex and python isessential.

KeyTasks and Responsibilities:

• Perform conceptual FEED anddetailed analyses and design as per design basis projectspecifications design codes and standards
• Apply indepth skills and broad knowledge ofthe business to address complex problems and nonstandard situations
• Prepare clear and accurate detailed designcalculations and analyses including design reports and procedures
• Manage own time to meet objectives and (asLead Engineer) forecast and plan resource requirements
• Clearly communicate and explain difficultconcepts and persuade others to adopt a point of view
• When acting as Lead Engineer in addition:
  • Direct an Engineering team as a Lead Engineer
  • Lead the Discipline engineering design of theassigned work area and complete it within the planned schedule andbudget in accordance with standards MDR and projectspecificprocedures and to a high professional standard
  • Plan organize and direct all aspects ofDiscipline execution on the assigned project including scopedeliverables schedule and all manpower resources agree allocationswith the Discipline Manager
  • Ensure interfacesand deliverables are clearly identified
  • Maintain responsibility for progress andproductivity identifying any required corrective action
  • Act as project representative for Disciplineduring meetings with the Project Team Customer discipline lead andrelevant agencies such as certifying authorities auditors thirdparties etc.
• Becomefully familiar with the project scope of work specificationsschedule and all interdiscipline requirements; includingidentifying concerns as early as practicable and taking appropriateinitiatives to address issues interpreting contractual requirementsas they relate to engineering execution
• Identify changes to scope and promptly raisechange notifications including providing any necessary supportingdocumentation and estimates Provide similar support for variationorders
• Interface with all disciplines todevelop clashfree designs
• Interface with otherdepartments to obtain input for discipline designs and drawings
• Maintain close coordination with otherengineering disciplines Planning fabrication Marine and ProjectManagement Teams as required
• Documentsubstantive communications (communications that result insignificant decisions or assignment of actions) and forward copiesto Discipline Lead Engineer and Discipline Manager
• Prepare estimates for bid proposals includingtechnical query reviews execution statements and manhour estimatesidentifying software requirements and any other projectspecificrequirements
• Raise technical queries to obtainmissing information clarify work scope and maintain preferredMcDermott procedures specifications standards practices andoperational requirements
• Prepare review and(as Lead Engineer) approve engineering design basis philosophiesand technical specifications
• Participate infinalizing deliverable lists and deliverables ensuring compliancewith specifications and functional integrity
• Review project schedule and fabricationschedule in relation to construction sequence milestones andengineering scope
• Attend project kickoff andreview meetings vendor meetings engineering meetings and offshoresite surveys as required
• Provide technicaldirection and review of Designers producing products related toInstallation Support Engineering
• Preparereview and (as Lead Engineer) approve design reports and procedures
• Assist in providing necessary design inputs toother disciplines to enable them to proceed with their deliverables
• Assist procurement personnel in procuringdiscipline equipment materials and services; ensuring that workproduced complies with Customer objectives and proceduresProcurement assistance includes preparing reviewing and (as LeadEngineer) approving requisitions evaluating technical quotationsand preparing queries compiling bid tabulations and recommendationspreparing purchase requisitions and coordinating with Procurementto expedite vendor documents as directed by Discipline LeadEngineer
• Assist in updating weight reportbased on receipt of vendor information
• Reviewand (as Lead Engineer) approve vendor and subcontractor submittalschecking for compliance with project specifications and providingcomments as necessary
• Review and (as LeadEngineer) approve design verification through singledisciplinecheck /interdiscipline check (IDC)
• Providetechnical support to all fabrication queries including identifyingdefect/rectification requirements
• Keep theDiscipline Manager and Project Management Team apprised of allactivities and concerns technical budgetary and manpower related
• Assist in providing inputs for actual planningand forecasting progress reports including associated productivity
• Check final subcontractor and vendor datamanuals to ensure that all requested data has been received andapproved
• Present issues and problems toCustomers in a timely manner and assist the Lead Engineer innegotiating resolution in accordance with project and companyrequirements
• Perform (as required) TechnicalQuality Audit reviews in accordance with MDR Global Procedures
• Assist Lead engineer with responses toCustomer and other agencies (such as certifying authoritiesauditors third parties etc.) on their review and approval
• Capture lessons learned and enter into MDRsLessons Learned system
• Guide less experiencedengineers on MDR and Discipline procedures standards worksheetsauditors third parties etc.) on their review and approval
• Supervise and guide assigned engineers andcoordinate with Lead Designers for Discipline engineering anddesign deliverables
• Responsible for theengineering integrity of the assigned work area
• Monitor costs of own work processes
• Assist in the maintenance of departmentaltechnical guidelines and standard calculation notes
• Participate in development and maintenance ofGlobal Procedures Software and Standards
• Mayparticipate in standards development committees or task groups suchas API
• Develop communication and presentationskills (e.g. write technical papers participate in conferencesand/or seminars present design solutions and/or present topics atlunch and learn; etc.)
• Identify and providetraining to staff in specific techniques and proprietary software
• Provide information on employee performance tothe Discipline Manager
• Assist the Disciplinemanager in interviewing job applicants
• Performreview and (as Lead Engineer) approve Pipeline Installationengineering designs analyses evaluations calculations andprocedures for loadout transportation and installation (includinginstallation aids):
  • Submarine pipelines
  • Risers
  • Spools
  • PLETS and manifolds
  • Cables
• Perform review and (asLead Engineer) approve Structural Installation engineering designsanalyses evaluations calculations and procedures for loadouttransportation and installation (including installation aids) ofoffshore structures including barge upgrades/modifications
• When acting as Lead engineer in addition:
  • Act as projectbased discipline point of contactin communications and meetings with customer counterparts
  • Ensure substantive communications aredocumented
  • Prepare bids and projectsdiscipline engineering budget and execution plans
  • Identify project staff needs based onknowledge of individual engineers skill sets and provide requeststo the discipline manager
  • Plan organize andassign tasks responsibilities and manhour budgets to the disciplineteam and verify tasks are completed within budgets
  • Plan discipline deliverable schedule/registercompliant with the overall execution plan
  • Prepare work forecasts identifying changemanagement plans corrective action and realtime schedule
  • Provide discipline inputs for actual planningand forecasting progress reports including associated productivity
  • Alert the project team of any deviation fromthe scope or a need for a change order
  • MonitorKPI measurement results and take corrective action as necessary toimprove Discipline performance including performance at interfaceswith others
  • Coordinate with other DisciplineLead Engineers and Designers to ensure timely receipt of necessarydesign inputs
  • Review and approve requisitionstechnical quotation evaluations and queries compiled bidtabulations and recommendations and purchase requisitions: andcoordinate with Procurement to expedite vendor documents asrequired
  • Lead the Discipline team duringproject audits (internal Customer and thirdparty technical audits)and Design reviews
  • Review comments fromcustomers & other agencies on documents and drawingsproduced by the team and resolve and give guidance on their updateand incorporation
  • Assist the Disciplinemanager in the preparation of quarterly forecasts and manpowerplanning
  • Anticipate project engineering needsand plan accordingly
  • Coordinate with vendorfor disciplinemanaged/produced items
  • Assistthe Discipline manager and Project Engineering Manager or ProjectManager in the Performance Evaluation of project teammembers

EssentialQualifications and Education:

• 1015 years in oil and gaswith a major contractor or consultant predominantly performingconstruction and installation design
• BachelorsDegree in Naval Architecture Civil/Structural/MechanicalEngineering (Masters is a preference)
• Detailedknowledge of design techniques and analysis methods and detailedknowledge of the theory content and application of standards codesand guidelines as applicable Knowledgeable in project coordinationand execution skills
• Preferably RegisteredProfessional Engineer or member of a professional engineeringsociety
