Responsibilities:

  • Consulting with patients to understand their symptomsand health concerns.
  • Diagnosing and treating conditions,such as asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema.
  • Using andinterpreting pulmonological exams and tests to aid in the diagnosisof cardiopulmonary diseases and conditions, including CT scans,chest fluoroscopies, ultrasounds, and bronchoscopies.
  • Performing various specialized procedures in order to acquiresamples of the chest wall lining or the lungs, for furtheranalysis.
  • Providing immunizations against preventablecardiopulmonary diseases.
  • Maintaining detailed notes ofappointments with patients, including comments, tests and/ortreatments prescribed, and test results.
  • Referringpatients to cardiothoracic surgeons, when necessary.
  • Advising cardiothoracic surgeons of the risk status of patients andrecommending interventions to minimize risk, especially intuberculosis cases.
  • Providing support and advice topatients receiving longterm care.
  • Conducting researchinto the testing and development of new medications and methods oftreatment
