EEG Technologist

To provide comprehensive, specializeddiagnostic testing, interpretation, reporting and treatments in thefield of Neurophysiology, in order to achieve the very best qualityof patient care, for all service users. They will workindependently, within clearly defined protocols and evidence-basedpractices as a multi-disciplinary team member. They will supportclinical decision making by providing routine, non-routine andspecialized investigations, required to assist in the diagnosis andtreatment of suspected or known Neurological Conditions.

They will provide high quality, Neurology andNeurophysiology services across the following key service areas:

• Neurology Inpatients and Outpatients

• Pulmonology & Sleep Services

• Neonatalcare

Provides a highly complex,clinical neurodiagnostic service to patients of all ages from arange of specialities suffering from a wide variety of medicaldisorders including those, which may be neurological and/orpsychiatric in nature.

Provides diagnosticsupport to adults and children including but not limited to:

Performs and provides technical reports onElectroencephalographic (EEG) investigations employing currentstandard techniques without supervision and using specialisttechniques, i.e., Sleep deprived EEG's; EEG'sperformed with sedation, multi-sleep latency testing and ambulatoryEEG's.

Performs emergencyEEG's at various locations.

PerformsNerve Conduction studies for suspected peripheral nerveinvolvement.

Assists with EMG(Electromyographic) examinations and complex Nerve conductionstudies.

Performs multi-modality evokedpotentials, i.e., Visual evoked potentials, auditory evokedpotentials, upper and lower limb somato-sensory evoked potentials,taking appropriate action where necessary.

Performs Electro-retinography (ERG's).

Provides analysis, assessment, andinterpretation of a broad spectrum of adult diagnostic and somepaediatric test results.

Provides goalorientated, evidence based and clinically reasoned treatmentplans/recommendations alone and in conjunction with an integratedteam of physicians, nurses, and other Allied Health Professionals(as applicable) in relation to clinical scope of practice.
