Job Summary We are currently seeking a Contracts Manager for our infrastructure project in Doha, Qatar. Responsible for overseeing all pre- and post-contract activities for a major multi-million dollar infrastructure project. This role involves consistent interaction with the Client, consultants, and contractors throughout the lifecycle of the project. Demonstrated proficiency in managing contractor and consultants' claims and disputes. Engages in strategic planning activities for specific projects such as risk assessment, bid/no bid analysis, and participating in business plan development. Provides expert guidance to assigned personnel to ensure contract administration is efficient and timely. Makes staffing assignments and adjustments as project requirements evolve. In charge of recruiting, interviewing, and evaluating potential employees as well as making hiring decisions, necessary corrections, and approving terminations.
  • Collaborates with the Client and project management consultant to ensure adequate support in proposal preparation, contract negotiations, and administration.
  • Reviews requests for proposals to identify risks and contractual terms that do not comply with policy.
  • Handles negotiations involving complex, sensitive issues with clients.
  • Maintains active involvement in relevant professional societies to stay updated on contractual matters.
  • Performs additional responsibilities related to this position as deemed appropriate.
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge of industry business practices and prime contract negotiation.
Skills Ideally, a B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering/Quantity Surveying/Construction. Minimum Experience15 years of experience in prime contract administration and management within a large international engineering and construction firm, with a minimum of 10 years in a similar capacity with comparable companies supporting extensive construction and infrastructure projects. Further Qualification Required
  • Proficiency in English language is mandatory.
  • Chartered membership of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or other globally recognized institutions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with PC software packages commonly used for contract administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a management role is essential.
  • Capable of working effectively in a specialized team, with the self-drive to work with minimal supervision, manage multiple contracts concurrently, interpret contracts, and handle claims and other contractual matters.
  • Knowledge of international standards such as FIDIC, NEC, JCT, ICE, EJCDC for pre- and post-award contract administration.
  • Understanding of civil and common law practices is beneficial.
Further Experience Required:
  • Prior work experience inclusive of extensive exposure to contracts administration, negotiation, and claims management.
  • Experience in handling high-value claims, dispute resolution, and arbitration in both construction and infrastructure projects, preferably with exposure in the Middle East or internationally with FIDIC and other global contract forms.
