Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing Pre-Commissioning & Commissioning activities for assigned Areas to ensure EPC PC&C Contractor's safe and efficient delivery of Complex Instrumentation & Control Systems, primarily involving planning, set-up, testing, and troubleshooting of various components until final Integration and Dynamic Testing. Ensures planning such as systemization, commissioning/pre-commissioning planning, database set-up, and coordination with other stakeholder disciplines is developed. Provides clear guidance to the EPC Contractor and facilitates resolution of pre-comm/comm issues to meet project objectives and milestones.
  • This position is responsible for ensuring all planning and execution activities associated with the pre-comm/comm of assigned area are achieved by the EPC contractor, including third parties such as vendors, consultants, and sub-contractors, executed to COMPANY Project's specifications and COMPANY requirements.
  • Major challenges for this role include:
    1. Effectively guiding EPC contractor, including vendors and subcontractors, and pre-comm/comm team to produce timely deliverables up to Plant Handover.
    2. Maintaining constructive working relationships with EPC contractor, including vendors and subcontractors, to ensure delivery and execution of pre-comm/comm work scope in accordance with project specifications/requirements.
    3. Maintaining good relationships with stakeholders (e.g., Operations, quality, engineering, construction) to ensure alignment of systems completions execution.
    4. Working safely and effectively in SIMOPS and Brownfield areas with adherence to project protocols.
  • Interfaces (pre-commissioning and commissioning) with existing operating facilities and other EPC Projects.

Your Tasks

  • Predominantly field-based to assist and witness the execution of assigned area Pre-Comm and Commissioning activities.
  • Provides Instrument pre-comm/comm expertise & guidance, leading safe execution of the instrument Pre-Comm and Commissioning scope of work in accordance with project deliverables and execution schedule. Demonstrates leadership in planning and execution driving EPC contractor to deliver as per project milestones.
  • Provide leadership in the Field and Technical Rooms with EPC Contractor, vendor & sub-contractors in troubleshooting efforts to diagnose, formulate, and resolve issues with field instrumentation / controls systems and difficulties from test execution during SAT/Loop Test and Function Test that impede efficient progress.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and approving Instrument Pre-Comm/Comm check sheets, procedures, method statements, work packages, schedules, and provide supervision of pre-comm/comm scope of work by EPC contractor, supporting contractor by helping to address gaps and coordination with operations and other disciplines within CPY team.
  • Guide EPC Contractor's Instrument pre-comm/comm activities and validate contracts, including vendors, subcontractor resources, personnel qualifications, usage of appropriate tools; adherence to project objectives, requirements, specifications, and verification processes. Provide assurance that CTR/SCTR adhere to Project SHES procedures.
  • Report generation and validating/invalidating testing and commissioning results.
  • Actively participate in Toolbox Talks, Task Instructions, and SHES related walkdowns.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • 10 years' experience as an Instrumentation Commissioning Engineer with broad knowledge of commissioning planning and execution experience for LNG liquefaction facilities or Oil & Gas facilities.
  • Good understanding of System Completion Process and associated phases such as technical and contractual certificate walkdowns and PSSR procedure.
  • Experience in systemization including check sheet allocation, completions database, and development of instrumentation pre-comm/comm procedures.
  • Pre-commissioning & Commissioning experience and understanding of DCS/IPS/FGS/Third Party System, Analyzers, sampling systems, and Field Instrumentation, Fiscal Metering Systems, Tank Gauging, Specialty Analyzers / sampling systems, Gas Chromatographs, Control & On / Off Valves, ESDV, Blowdown Valves and accessories, MOV's; Fire & Gas devices, BMS / Flare Panels and specialty instruments associated with large compressors.
  • Experience with compressors and associated control systems.
  • Both brownfield and greenfield experience are an advantage.
  • Good understanding of International (ISA/IEC) Standards and best practices in the areas of Instrumentation installations and testing.
  • Demonstrated experience of using Instrument calibration tools and instrument configuration set-ups.
  • Strong leadership skills, experience leading contractor teams.
  • Excellent written and oral English skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and coordination skills.
  • Strong technical, prioritization, and management skills.
  • Good communication, influencing, and interface skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software programs.
