Job Description

Wood is currently looking for a Senior Piping Designer Offshore to support growing operations in Qatar.

ResponsibilitiesPrimary Role:
  1. To provide discipline specific design and drafting services that meet the Project's, and applicable statutory and regulatory, requirements.
  2. To provide technical support to the site team during design, engineering and construction.
Principal Responsibilities
  1. Preparation and checking of all types of Piping or Layout design deliverables such as General Arrangement Drawings, Mechanical Package Drawings, 3D Models in PDS, Piping Arrangement Drawings, Piping Isometrics, Material Take-Offs, Electrical or Instrument Cable layouts etc.
  2. Interdisciplinary check of all Civil/Structural/Piping/Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation drawings.
  3. Review of vendor drawings for Equipment / Package items.
  4. Produce 2D drawings in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  5. To assist in the coordination of all activities related to the discipline.
  6. Preparation of model / constructability review presentation.
Technical / Business Skills
  1. Strong commitment to safety.
  2. Proficient in the use of AutoCAD, MicroStation, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  3. Must be able to work to an agreed scope, budget and schedule.
  4. An active listener with the ability to focus on customer requirements.
  5. Experience in Brownfield, Conceptual, FEED and Detailed Design is required.
  6. Experience in the preparation and co-ordination of Mechanical and/or Piping design deliverables.
  7. Compliance with industry, international and client Codes and Standards.
  8. Maintain suitable records of correspondence and work completed for reference and auditing purposes.
Qualifications
  1. Diploma or HNC in Mechanical Engineering (or relevant subject).
Business & Industry Experience
  1. Minimum of 5-8 years relevant experience.
  2. Experience in FEED, Brownfield, Upstream Oil.
  3. PDS / PDMS experience required.
  4. Experience in Site Survey Activities and techniques.
  5. Previous experience of working for Wood is preferred.
  6. Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage.
Competencies
  1. Onshore/Offshore Oil and Gas related Mechanical and/or Piping design experience.
  2. Thorough awareness of international codes and standards used for Mechanical and/or Piping design in Oil & Gas industry.
  3. A determination to continually improve safety in all aspects of plant design and operation.
  4. Extensive experience with prefabricated, packaged plant design.
