About the role

The Shop Supervisor is responsible for providing operational support to the Shop Manager in managing shop operations. Also, responsible for keeping the line manager updated on the forecast and making significant contributions to maximize sales, minimize stock losses, and generate revenue through customer satisfaction and employee engagement. During the absence of the Shop Manager, the Shop Supervisor will oversee all activities on the shop floor, ensuring operations are covered properly.

Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Communicate all retail information, shop sales targets, and monthly promotions to shop team leaders and sales assistants actively and effectively, ensuring all staff are fully aware of the sales target and motivated to drive sales results.
  2. Coordinate stock movement from the warehouse to the shop daily, ensuring proper stock rotation, full shelves, and high standards of merchandising at any given time to maximize sales.
  3. Review weekly expiry reports and identify outdated or short stocks well in advance, reporting to the Shop Manager/Duty Manager to avoid lost sales.
  4. Conduct daily operational checklists at every shift, ensuring Retail Standards are followed and maintained by all employees on the shop floor. Should any incompliance be observed, take required actions for future improvement.
  5. Regularly conduct price and item checks to ensure product display, item price, and stock accuracy are maintained.
  6. Monitor all cash handling operations to ensure full compliance and that all staff conform to cash handling security instructions, rules, and regulations.
  7. Report any register (POS) problems and ensure correct administration of customer return products and staff sales. Conduct cash spot checks as per SOP, with logs maintained and reviewed with the Shop Manager every month.
  8. Coordinate with the permit office for customer permit issues, renewals, and special permits to accommodate and provide service on time.
  9. Assist the Shop Manager/Duty Manager in delivering staff training, regularly conducting spot checks on staff product knowledge. If any gaps are identified, coordinate with the Shop Manager to plan relevant training to ensure staff are familiar with all products on sale and promotional activities.
  10. In the absence of the Shop Manager/Duty Manager, oversee permit office activities to accommodate permit inquiries or issues from customers.
  11. In the absence of the Shop Manager/Duty Manager, perform as Manager on Duty during weekends/public holidays, overseeing all activities in the warehouse, shop floor, and permit office, ensuring operations are covered properly.
  12. Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Head of the Department.

Qualifications

About you

The successful candidate will have the following:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
  2. Minimum 2 years of job-related experience
  3. Experience in the Retail or Service industry
  4. Job Specific Skills:
  5. Computer operations, Retail POS, and cash handling experience
  6. Good Command of the English language
  7. Customer Focus, Market Knowledge, Results driven
  8. Operational knowledge of the Retail Environment is important
  9. Preferred:
  10. Basic knowledge of beverages (alcohol and spirits)
  11. Retail experience in FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods)
