The Applied Research, Innovation and Economic Development Directorate is inviting nominations and applications for the position of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Specialist. Reporting to the head of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the incumbent will be in charge of delivering training programs, network and allocate resources to empower startups with essential skills and support required for the success of their entrepreneurial ventures.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This position requires the incumbent to identify specific needs of the startup in the network through surveys, interviews or market research and determine the current skills gaps and knowledge deficiencies. She/he will need to define objectives for the training programs detailing skills to impart to startups, whilst specifying key success criteria.

The successful candidate will collaborate with various stakeholders to create training content tailored to the needs of the resident startups. The ideal candidate will need to create a curriculum that aligns with the identified needs and customise these training programs for different startup stages.

The ideal candidate will deliver training sessions to resident startups whilst ensuring that critical skills and practical insights essential for successful entrepreneurship are provided. The ideal candidate will need to choose appropriate delivery methods including workshops, webinars, online courses, mentoring and coaching. She/he needs to support start-ups in conducting market research and validating their ideas ensuring they are addressing market needs.

The successful candidate will need to gather feedback from trainees and consider their experiences and insights in order to continuously refine and improve processes. She/he will be in charge of implementing KPIs to track the progress of incubator participants. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing training materials for Summer Acceleration Program ensuring participants gain the required skills within limited timeframe.

This position requires the applicant to be compliant with university policies, legal requirements and intellectual property matters for startups in the program.

QualificationsEducation and Certifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, or a related field

Experience:
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in the higher education sector
  • Previous experience in training, especially in incubators, startups, or innovation environment is a plus.
Language:
  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required
  • Fluency in written and spoken Arabic is preferred.
