Position Title: Project Civil Engineer

Location: Doha, Qatar

Reports to: Project Manager

Department: Business Development

Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Civil Engineer responsible for overseeing construction projects from start to finish. The role will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Project Civil Engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Strong technical expertise, project management skills, and the ability to solve complex challenges are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution

  • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Review engineering designs, drawings, and specifications using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D).
  • Conduct site investigations and risk assessments.
  • Ensure designs comply with building codes, regulations, and local/international industry standards.
  • Ensure executed work adheres to approved designs and complies with local, national, and international codes.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure safety protocols and environmental regulations are followed.
  • Verify and certify contractor invoices, analysing measurements and overall project execution.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and sustainability, considering global standards, productivity improvement, and cost reduction.

Reporting

  • Prepare timely and accurate reports to meet department and organizational requirements, ensuring they align with quality standards and policies.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from a reputable university.

Minimum Experience

  • 10 years of experience in similar roles, with at least 4 years in progressively increasing managerial responsibilities, demonstrating strong leadership skills.

Job-Specific Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Good understanding of the power/energy and water sectors, emerging trends, and technologies.
  • Proficiency in English (required), Arabic (a plus).
  • Proven operational and implementation experience.
  • Ability to work with key stakeholders, senior executives, management teams, and external partners.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) for creating detailed designs and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
