Position Title: Packaging Operator (Pace)Reports to: Operations Manager
No. of Staff Supervised: Direct Reports: Packaging; Indirect Reports: Maintenance personnel

Job ObjectiveCarry out and coordinate the activities of the Packaging Department including primary and secondary packaging. Operate PACE packaging machines (vertical) to package potato chips with Nitrogen flushing. The candidate is responsible for the attainment of plant packaging requirements at budgeted cost, while adhering to all quality, safety, human resource and other governmental requirements. The successful candidate will work with Health and Safety Manager to ensure Quality Assurance. Manage packaging whilst following the maintenance, quality and sanitation programs, striving to minimize downtime, and providing a safe working environment, and food safe finished product that meets company, government and environmental criteria. The focus will be on continued improvement of the plant in areas such as teamwork, employee involvement and process ownership.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities- Assure that all Safety, Human Resource, Food Safety and Sanitation requirements and regulations are adhered to.
- Manage resources for the Packaging department.
- Coach and develop the Packaging team, ensuring job duties are performed efficiently and effectively through training and education.
- Avoid waste in the packaging department.
- Initiate continuous improvement activities through the development of action plans, problem solving, engineering and/or equipment changes, safety, quality, & cost improvement efforts, lean manufacturing, benchmarking, and all other activities.
- Communicate key findings to Management to help migrate learnings/key findings for cost & efficiency improvements as well as quality improvements.
- Achieve all Key Performance Indicators objectives.
- Provide a work environment which adheres to all compliance and regulatory guidelines.
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement that meets or exceeds division expectations.
- Establish clear performance and behavioral expectations for all employees.
- Maintain an effective performance management process reviewing all direct reports' progress against annual plans and continually develop their effectiveness.
- Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally to assist the team to solve operational issues.
- Motivate team members to achieve plan goals.
- Lead the identification and elimination of losses resulting in improvements in costs, inventory, time and quality.
- Administer policies and procedures.
- Regular and predictable attendance at the work site.
- This role requires regular presence on the plant floor.
- This role requires lifting up to 20 KG, occasionally.
- This role may operate forklift and manufacturing equipment occasionally.
- This role may require off-shift and weekend work.

Qualifications: Proven track record in handling food production equipment, specifically Pace Packaging machines. Professional certification from relevant institutions is an added advantage.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
Job-Specific Skills- Knowledge of relevant leading practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Suite Applications.
- Ability to manage multiple projects of varying priorities simultaneously.
