Reports to:
Role reports to Head of IMEA Gas Carriers Centre of Excellence (located in Doha).

Responsibilities:
Role is responsible for providing specialized expertise on operational matters related to gas carriers life circle i.e. pre-contract, new construction and in service. The role ensures that the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and technical excellence apply in the design, classification and operations of gas carriers (LNG, LPG and other gas-fueled vessels). More specifically the role will:

  1. Provide technical support and consultancy on the design, construction, and operation of gas carriers, mainly in Deck-Marine Operations related disciplines.
  2. Maintain regular contact and liaison with the key Clients operations teams and represent Bureau Veritas to them.
  3. Follow up remotely the progress of Clients New Building projects in coordination with BV Korea and BV China local teams and provide regular updates to Clients in Doha and Middle East Area.
  4. Develop training and knowledge sharing material and actively participate/contribute to the training delivery sessions and in-house (BV) workshops for clients on several relevant technical/operational subjects.
  5. Contribute on the development and design work carried within BV on gas technologies, related with cargo and/or fuel gas systems (including LNG bunkering, dual-fuel engines and alternative fuels solutions).
  6. Collaborate with the BVs network experts and participates to specifications review, drawing review and approval.
  7. Collaborate and supports the BV commercial teams.
  8. Provide gas experts consultancy support to the BV Marine & Offshore Classification team located also at Doha.

Profile & Experience:

  1. Degree by University or a Maritime Academy, in Maritime Studies subjects.
  2. Seagoing experience onboard LNG, LPG carriers, preferably up to Chief Officer or Masters level rank.
  3. Shore role(s) working experience in the maritime industry, preferably engaged with voyage planning & execution, navigation, cargo, commercial and similar operations and/or Classification matters, at a 5 years level.
  4. Working experience in ships design, construction and site supervision (including ships specification and drawings review will be considered as an asset.
  5. Excellent command of English language.

Key Competencies:

  1. Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of gas carrier design, safety, and operational standards, including hands-on technical and operational experiences; FSRU exposure is a plus.
  2. Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with IMO regulations, IACS standards, ISM, ISPS, TMSA, SIRE etc.
  3. Risk Assessment: Ability to evaluate risks in gas carrier operations and propose mitigation strategies.
  4. Other:
    1. Excellent communication and management skills.
    2. Able to travel at short notice and accept short overseas assignments if/as required.
    3. Ability to work independently and provide operational/technical leadership.
    4. Conversant in PC usage and tools.
