Primary Objective

To provide Instrumentation & Control discipline specific engineering services to Worley and its clients, and technical support and supervision within the discipline and to other disciplines by leading a discipline team.

Specific Accountabilities
  1. Builds positive working relationships with external parties such as the customer, suppliers, and contractors.
  2. Supports proposals by developing the discipline execution strategy, estimating costs, writing proposal content, and presenting to customers.
  3. Ensures the project work is covered for vacation and unplanned absences.
  4. Ensures discipline technical work and team activities meet all health, safety, environmental, and security requirements.
  5. Provide specialist technical support, supervision and advice to the discipline and project teams; participate in peer reviews.
  6. Ensures recognised onshore & offshore engineering practices applicable to Instrumentation & Control design engineering are adopted within the discipline.
  7. Supports management of project change and progressing for the discipline and works with the Project Management Team to take corrective actions regarding any issues, staffing requirements, scope changes, progressing, or other events that could affect project completion and/or profitability.
  8. Plans discipline quality, monitors quality activities, drives squad checking, recommends improvements, and takes action where required.
  9. Collaborates with project team in review of project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules.
  10. Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.
  11. Establish a list of discipline deliverables. Controls, monitors and progresses these deliverables to an agreed schedule.
Job Specific Knowledge
  1. Experience in brown fields & asset services type project / contracts.
  2. Excellent technical and practical engineering skills and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its clients.
  3. An excellent knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the Instrumentation & Control discipline, and the basic requirements of other disciplines.
  4. An excellent knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
  5. Competent in the use of relevant Instrumentation & Control discipline specific software.
  6. Extensive knowledge of design deliverables required for Conceptual, FEED and Detailed Design, and establishing the appropriate level of detail and checking required for each phase.
  7. Experience and good understanding of DCS, SIL 3 F&G and ESD, PA/GA system.
  8. Design and selection of instrumentation/equipment used on the onshore/offshore process facilities.
  9. A thorough knowledge of codes, standards and practice applicable to the design and installation of instruments (e.g., API, ISA, ANSI, AGA, ISO and IEC codes etc.).
  10. A thorough knowledge on the selection of equipment and materials for new projects and replacement in existing installation.
  11. Extensive experience in the design of control and safety systems such as SCADA/DCS, ESD, IPS Fire & Gas Detection, Fire Protection Systems, metering, WHCP, etc. Experience in preparing deliverables required for Safety Control System design in accordance with IEC 61508 and IEC 61511.
  12. Familiar with and able to apply cyber security requirements for Industrial Control Systems.
Industry Specific Experience
  1. Extensive work experience at a senior level within the Oil & Gas industry (Offshore and Onshore).
  2. Extensive technical, practical and leadership experience in the Instrumentation & Control discipline in the same or similar industry, including experience managing and leading multi-disciplinary projects and teams.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training
  1. Full-Time Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation/Electronics Engineering from an accredited university.
  2. MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation is a mandatory requirement. Candidates not holding this accreditation must be willing to achieve this within the probationary period.
  3. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or undertaking the same will be an advantage.
  4. Functional Safety Engineering certification from TUV or EXIDA is required.
IT Skills
  1. DCS, SIL 3 F&G and ESD, CCTV, PA/GA system.
  2. SIL Verification.
