Main purpose of the role

The Director of Broadcast Technology & Operations is responsible for the management and overseeing the operational and technical aspects of the Alaraby's Broadcast Operations. He/she will oversee the implementations of the workflow and best practices to ensure a high-level production.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Establish scope of Operations and Technology departments through strategic business drivers.
  2. Develop the strategic plan and vision for the operations and technology departments.
  3. Manage the performance of the operations and technology managers through ensuring adequate training, development, and performance management arrangements.
  4. Lead the evaluation and implementation of the operations and technology infrastructure.
  5. Oversee the day-to-day operations of the broadcast facility.
  6. Build and lead a fully competent broadcast team and technicians.
  7. Conduct regular reviews on Alaraby's broadcast to ensure high standard quality.
  8. Collaborate with the Network General Manager and Director of Support Services to develop and manage budgets for the broadcast technology and operations department.
  9. Communicate effectively with members of the team and other senior management across departments.
  10. Keep up to date with changes in media technology by building and maintaining a network of contacts and keeping up to date with new systems and techniques.
  11. Develop and evaluate comprehensive plans to satisfy present and future needs of Alaraby Television Network.
  12. Work with all external suppliers and consultants for services locally and internationally across many industry aspects including technical and logistical.

Key Skills/ Personal Attributes and Knowledge Required

  1. Up-to-date and proven record in broadcast operations.
  2. Detailed understanding of broadcast solutions requirements, graphics software, and production tools.
  3. Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  4. Working knowledge of broadcasting processes.
  5. Ability to take direction and work closely with managers in operations and technology departments.
  6. Proven experience in leading projects and building new systems.
  7. Extensive experience working in a 24-hour breaking news environment.
  8. Excellent understanding of television broadcast.
  9. Thorough knowledge of regulations affecting broadcasting.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in Broadcasting, Television Production, or related field.
  2. 10 years + experience in Television Broadcasting.
  3. In-depth knowledge of the Arabic broadcast industry.
  4. Extensive Arabic language skills including reading and writing.
