Quality Assurance/ Quality Control Manager

Job Purpose

This is a key position in our organization. As QA/QC Manager, you will be responsible for exceeding all minimum quality standards as defined by company policy, customer requirements, and all applicable regulatory agencies; and to ensure continued quality improvements. You will also be in charge of managing proper implementation and maintenance of all food safety and sanitation programs.

Principal Accountabilities

  1. Responsible for managing the Quality Control Department to ensure products and processes comply with company and customers' specifications and standards to maximize revenue for the company. Ensures that food-processing conditions are such that products are produced in accordance with current good manufacturing practices.
  2. Responsible for providing a safe working environment for department employees including training, instructions, and supervision.
  3. Demonstrates a collaborative relationship with other department managers in order that overall plant goals can be achieved (yields, waste, safety, cost, service, etc.)
  4. Ensure that supplier's products meet the company's specifications and guidelines.
  5. Manages and audits plants corrective actions for adequacy in implementation and compliance.
  6. Assists in resolving customer-related issues.
  7. Functions as team leader when the plant conducts mock recalls and assess management preparedness for a product recall.
  8. Reviews specifications (ingredients, packaging, processing, and finished products) for accuracy and resolves issues to assure capability to meet processing requirements.
  9. Participates in the food safety meetings and audits to support/adhere to food safety guidelines.
  10. Interacts with regulatory officials.
  11. Assists in designing and carrying out process or formulas experiments with the technical service department.
  12. Assists Sales with customer(s) product quality and handling concerns.
  13. Maintain proper records for the department's activities.
  14. Reports department's activities, tests, and other pertinent information as required.
  15. Support plant's compliance with corporate quality, policy, and manual procedures.
  16. Always follow GMPs and Safety standards.
  17. Responsible for conducting monthly safety and quality sessions as required and keeping adequate documented records.
  18. Accountable for ensuring that all safety policies and regulations are enforced, by issuing disciplinary actions.

Communication & Working Relationships

  1. Works closely with subordinates to ensure information transmission at all times.
  2. Coordinates with different departments in the Head Office/Factory to guarantee effective and smooth production.
  3. Manages direct reports and operational issues on a daily basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  1. Extensive experience in Quality within consumer food production environments, with a proven track record in leading QA/QC teams.
  2. Experience with regulatory inspectors.
  3. Team management/leadership/development skills.
  4. Successful in building and mentoring high-performance teams committed to quality and promoting a spirit of teamwork and a culture of continuous improvements.
  5. Bilingual English & Arabic is preferred.

Physical Requirements of the job

  1. Work involves moderate exposure to high temperatures, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
  2. Work environment involves potential exposure to hazards or physical risks, which requires following basic safety precautions.
