The Transportation & Logistic consultancy sector includes a portfolio of high-profile projects that include international, national, and regional clients, contractors and various Local Authorities. The Jacobs Highways team provides comprehensive consultancy and engineering services to the highways sector, covering the full spectrum of highway infrastructure requirements, from business case and project development, preliminary appraisal, and feasibility studies through to detailed design, implementation, operational management advice and operations and maintenance.

Due to our continued growth in the region Jacobs are hiring a Senior Highways/Roads Design Engineer for the Highways and Bridges team in Qatar. You would be involved in a wide variety of engineering tasks on major roads and highways projects.

As Senior Highways/Roads Design Engineer, you will be responsible for independently leading the design production on assigned Jacobs' roads and highways, and related projects within the Transportation & Logistic section. As well client-facing you will be offering support to the engineering team to develop suitable engineering options and solutions, providing leadership and mentorship to the team of designers across a portfolio of projects.

You will also be collaborating with our commercial, project management, engineering and technical leaders to create opportunities for Jacobs to plan, develop, deliver and operate a range of projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and mentoring a team of engineers, technicians and apprentices within your own discipline working on a variety of projects
  • Responsible for the preparation of feasibility studies, technical reports, detailed designs, and production of contract documents
  • Helping to seek innovative solutions in achieving the best value in delivering our services
  • Interact with the client and stakeholder to resolve roads design issues throughout project lifecycles
  • Using value engineering techniques during the design development as well as implementation of safety in design
  • Helping with the development of the team through the delivery of projects and commissions, providing technical and administrative support and leadership where required
  • Driving continual improvement of our deliverables by using digital delivery tools, Lessons Learned from other projects and Clients' feedbacks
  • Responsible for the coordinated technical delivery, reporting and associated governance of the projects
  • Implementing improvement measures and share good practice as applicable
  • Actively engage in business development Jacobs.
Here's What You'll Need

As a successful candidate you will have a Bachelors or Masters Degree (or equivalent Degree), with Technical design experience gained in the transportation sector (Highways or Transportation) and will have proven experience working on Roads and Highways projects in Qatar.

You will have knowledge and understanding of appropriate standards and accepted practices from a consultancy or equivalent road agency alongside good communication (written and oral) and presentation skills.

You will have a valid registration with MME Engineering & Consulting Offices Accrediting Committee (UPDA).

It is highly preferable that you will have full understanding of Ashghal and Ministry of Transport standards, procedures, and specifications.
